questions about dry firing Taurus revolver

I have a model 82 .38 Special revolver, and in the manual it states: "Dry firing is bad for this firearm - do not dry fire." or something to that effect.

I don't want to dry fire a lot, but since this pistol is new to me, I'd like to be able to get a feel for it without having to go to the range and live fire it. I mean, I love to do that, but I can't do it as often as I would like.

    So here are my questions:

    1. Does anyone know specifically why dry firing is bad for Taurus revolvers and what are the possible negative consequences?

    2. Is it okay to dry fire Taurus revolvers - my model 82 - with snap caps in place?

Thanks in advance for your response!

Doing a search here can be an interesting experience. If a person is in a certain board for example, like Taurus revolvers, the search will take place just in that board in those old threads.

One should do searches while on the Taurus Armed .Net office pages. Then the search will go through all the boards looking for that info. Just one of those goofy vagaries the software here has.

    There is another way.

After a a first search go on with a second search without going back to other pages.Wehn the no match or little info comes up the first time type in another search then and there. That gets you through to all or most of the boards for a search. Goffy but there it is.

I dry fire my 627 all of the time and there is no wear or tear on the gun. I did buy snap caps though just for speed loader practice.
