    Taurus Tracker 970 .22lr???

I have been wanting to pick up a Taurus Tracker .22lr for a while now, IMO its the best 22 revolver available!

But the problem I am having is that its a Taurus, the I own 1911 has been great.. But I have been told my many people, the only money you should give Taurus is for their 1911. Even the dealer told me never to buy a Taurus except their 1911. I have been told by a few people that even HiPoint is better than Taurus (now HiPoint doesnt make revolves so its not a fair comparison).

Just a quick scan of this section doesnt have the best reviews on the gun either. BUT am I just seeing the bad reviews? I know when people have a problem about a gun they post up but the majority of us dont start threads to say hey mine is doing great lol..

Can you guys talk me in or out of this gun. Also if you talk me out of if can you recomend another gun that is similar to this Tracker 970 .22lr.

    Thanks!
    Taurus PT-1911 SS

I do not have a 970, but I do have a snubby 94 that is just fine. A 905 9mm same thing! & a JUDGE, and a Rossi 461 38/357, with no problems at all.

One thing to remember is that nobody complains about something that works the way it should. So you always see more complaints then praises. Get the 970 or 990 but make sure you inspect it. There are threads on here and other sights of what to look for when inspecting if you are in doubt.

    Re: Taurus Tracker 970 .22lr???

I've got a 990 Tracker. As I have mentioned many times here, it's been flawless. I shot mine in a rimfire league last summer, the gun shot better then I did. The guy who won the league championship for the season (revolver division) shot a Taurus 970. He was a very good shot, and his Tracker made believers out of the Smith boys.

Due to the rising cost of ammo. A warning shot will NOT be fired!!

    Re: Taurus Tracker 970 .22lr???

I have a blued 970 and can't sing the praises of this revolver enough. Granted a 22LR on this size frame isn't for everyone but that's exactly why I do like it. It has more heft in hand and feels more like a .357 or .38 due to that weight & size. Also the D/A pull is just about perfect for me stock, right out of the box. Don't let the naysayers and brand bashers dissuade you. For every person that has a legitimate problem you'll have another 50 who knew someone that knew someone else that heard it from their uncle that his best friend had one that wasn't worth a crap.
