FTF last round brand new 709 slim

I've had my 709 slim for 3 days now. Yesterday was my first day shooting it. I put approx. 130 rounds through it and about 40% of the time the last round would not feed. I was using 115 Winchester. My other pistol also would not feed the last round. That said I know for a fact that the mag is bad in my other pistol and is going back. I'm going to try adjusting the feed lips on the magazine to see if that helps. Does anyone have any other possible tips, solutions, etc?

How is it "failing to feed"?

Going blind, I'm thinking that it may be dirt in the mag binding the follower from going up or your hand is hitting the slide during recoil. The hand hitting is actually more common, especially with a small gun and recoil moving it around more and more until on the last round it's moved enough to rub the slide.

Did you do a thorough cleaning of the pistol before firing it the 1st time?? Just curious. I recently bought a 709 Slim, cleaned and lubed it first. I've put probably 200+ rounds thru it with the mag that came with it and a new one (Taurus) that I bought.

Yes sir. There was an excessive amount of lube from the factory before i cleaned it.

Its almost as if the round is not there. There is no attempt to feed. It stays completely in the magazine. Its only the last round that is doing this.

Carefully take the base plate off the mag. Then thoroughly clean and lightly oil the inside of the mag body and the spring. Re-assemble the magazine. That should take care of your FTF problem.

Strange problem, of all the ills of the 709 this is the first one of this type I have heard of.
