problem with Tula ammo not fitting the TCP 738 chamber? wit photo

Has any one had this problem with Tula ammo not fitting the chamber? You can see what I mean in the photos I have provided.
I bought my TCP from cabelas and picked up 5 boxes of Herter's also because they were on sale for $15 and they looked good.
I was down to my last box of 50 so I went to Walmart to pick some more 380 ammo and all they had was Tula so I bought it.

When I tried to chamber the round the tcp jammed and would not chamber the round, I tried a few more time with the same results. When I returned home I broke down the tcp
and found that the tula does not fit properly. Has this happened to any one else with a tcp? The last photo is of the Herter's that fits.

Are you sure you got 9x17, and not 9x18 ammo?

I've never used the pistol ammo. Their AK stuff seems to run alright, but I keep hearing and reading complaints about their pistol ammo.

    Mass produced and Sh*t happens.........
In general Tulammo is good and dependable ammo....
Contact them and they will make good on it.....

No one, especially in the firearms/ammo industry wants or can afford a deadly lawsuit......
but profit margins and other politically correct corner-cutting tactics have resulted in less-than-top-quality
    production of their product......
As much of a hassle it is today to......
send firearms back....new ones....no matter what brand.....
ammo problems and the lack of quality..... or whatever.......
it has now become our burden and our responsibility to 'call them out' on their shortcomings
and make them make good on their sh*t !!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't make the gun, I'm not set up for it......but this is a good reason and a perfect example
of one of the reasons I do reload my own.

    Good point CJS!
its not unheard of that the wrong ammo is in the wrong box, or more often some knuclehead was looking at 2 similiar but different ammunition at the gun counter and placed the wrong ammo in the wrong box!
so I will ask did you check more than 1 round from the box of tula?
whats the OAL of the cartridge?
did you check the head stamp one the ammo?
have you tried the tula in another 380 chambered weapon?
and finally did you inspect the TCP to make sure nothing was stuck inside the chamber?

In a perfect world everything is simple!
but in the real world tooling and manufacturing have standards or specs( specifications) and then there are excepted variations of these standards, simply everything is not perfect.
so even in good 380 (or any caliber ammo) you have variations, and then you have variations from spec with a weapons chamber dimensions.
so you can , it does happen that a box of ammo will not fit/function is a certain weapon of the correct caliber.
I don't personally think this is the case here, but there are many possibilities, including human error after the ammo left the manufacture, thats all i am saying.

I have had this problem, with Tula steel case and cheap gun show reloads.
I did not actually notice that the Tula was too long to seat properly...but had trouble with jams and no fires. It was the re-loads that were to long to seat...some were too long to fit into the mag!
I don't buy either any more.
Remington 88 gr jhp's are $31.95/100 at Walmart. They are fins for target practice and will do for SD in a pinch. Also if you want to order ammo- there is Freedom Munitions thats pretty cheap- I hear good news about them....andalso many online ammo suppliers sell Fiocchi for about $13/50 -

So is the ammo out of spec, or do you have a tight chamber?
    .380 specs:
Bullet diameter .355 in (9.0 mm)
Neck diameter .373 in (9.5 mm)
Base diameter .374 in (9.5 mm)
Rim diameter .374 in (9.5 mm)
Rim thickness .045 in (1.1 mm)
Case length .680 in (17.3 mm)
Overall length .984 in (25.0 mm)

The herters is 380 auto and tula was 380 acp the same I think, There was nouthing blocking the chamber.
The head of the bullet does seem diffrent from herters. I have used tula before in 9mm, 40 s&w and 223. with no problems this is the 1st time I have had this happen.
I am going to try to return this to walmart but I am sure they will not take it back but I will try. Thanks for the info

I will have to watch out when buying ammo now I guess, I like this little gun and have not really had any problem with it other then this and also the slide not locking back on the last round most of the time
but I am not bothered by this so much and I may be able to fix that my self.Name: IMAG0093.jpg
