Taurus is a joke IMHO Check out the "New" Pistol they sent me. PICTURES INCLUDED

Long story but here it goes:

Two months back(end of Feb) I bought a used Taurus 94SSUL from S&K Pawn(local dealer). Ended up that it was POS... barrel canted to the right, front sight bent, misfires 4 or so times out of 9, extremely hard extraction of fired cases, completely locking up in DA, horrible tooling gouges in cylinder where rounds go AND last but not least, the few times the thing fired it spit lead back at me.

Contacted the shop I bought it at and they sent back the firearm for me at no cost to me. I wrote a nice long letter with every detail plus my phone number and address to send with the pistol if Taurus needed to contact me at any point they could. At the time the firearm was shipped, they said it was a 3 week turn around time.

    TIMELINE:

    3/3

    Taurus Receives pistol

    3/24

Called to see what the deal was with the gun. Talked to a guy (didn't catch his name) saying they would have a decision made by his boss by the end of the week and should ship beginning of following week(3/2

    3/29

Called again and spoke with "Axel" Apparently they were going to replace the firearm but didn't have S&K's FFL. So I call S&K and they sent FFL out that day.

    3/31

Called Taurus to make sure FFL was received. It was received on 3/30, lady said they had plenty of said firearm in stock and would ship out ASAP.

    4/4

Called to see if firearm had shipped. Spoke with a man who said they didn't have any in the warehouse. WTH I wasn't an asshole but I'm getting pretty upset at this point. He basically tells me to talk to his boss, Frank. Well Frank isn't at his desk right now so I can't talk to him.

    4/6

Called and spoke with Suzanne and asked for Frank. Frank was gone for the day but she took my name/number and said he would call the next day.

    4/7
No call from "Frank" Thursday or Friday.

    4/11
Spoke with Joe explaining my issue. He said that they had all the information they needed but the firearm was on back order. Didn't really give me a good time frame of when it could go off back order besides "3-4 Weeks" or more.

    4/17

For the hell of it I called to see if they had any more in stock. Spoke with a lady and she said that this shouldn't have happened they have had them in stock the whole time. Will send it out overnight first thing and they will send me tracking info to my email by the end of the day 4/18. Will call in an hour once she spoke with her boss etc etc. No phone call.

    4/18 5:55 PM

Called and spoke with the same lady again, "opps I don't know why that didn't get done, sorry for not calling back" was her response. It should ship out next week as we have this Fri Mon off for Easter was what she told me.

    4/26

Called again to see where the firearm was. Different person again and as I had suspected, it had not shipped. Finally talked to someone that shipped me the firearm as of 5/2.

Basically a full two months. What I have an issue with is NOT the time frame. I am willing to wait 20 weeks if that's what you tell me it will be. What I am upset about is the fact that twice they told me the gun would be shipped out, it wasn't. Twice I was supposed to get a phone call back, never happened. To top all that off I received a "New" gun that won't eject the cases. It may be because the cylinder looks like it was cut with dull hand tools.

I fired 18 rounds through it and by the second cylinder I couldn't physically force the shell casings out of the cylinder. I had to use force to do so. Obviously the brass is expanding on the shitty cyl. walls and wont budge because of the crappy machine work.

So, I got back a "new" gun that now I will have to send back again.

As of today 5/4 I called and asked to speak to a manager, I was told that their manager was not in. I then asked to speak to his manager then and he somehow found his boss so I could speak with him. The Rep I talked to said

"Well they are test fired and inspected so I don't know how it could be fine here but not when you received it" HMM dude lets think here, possibly it was fine for 1-2 rounds and those chambers were fine but the other 7 weren't. A complete idiot could see the tooling marks gouges in the cylinder.

I will NEVER EVER BUY A TAURUS AGAIN. Not only for the fact that I have been lied to several times but the fact that after an issue is brought to their attention TWO TIMES they still try to deny the problem.

To say something about my spending habits. I have bought over 70 firearms in the last 4 years, I cast and reload my own ammo and shoot quite often. I'm no idiot as far as firearms go.

    END RANT.

Posts such as this one go to the Complaint section...particularly when a firearm has to be returned to Miami.

Crazy huh? As stated, this is the REPLACEMENT firearm they sent me! The Rep/Manager had the nerve to try and tell me it wasn't like that when it left the factory. BS!

It is certainly enough to "put a bad taste" in one's mouth, for sure.

    1) CSRs aren't supposed to make decisions as to what is, or isn't, the reason for a problem with a gun. They have zero authority, and apparently, little gunsmithing knowledge.

    2) Speaking to different people at each call only results in multiple entries in the system, and can confuse the heck out of anyone trying to help.

    3) You bought a USED gun. Apparently without ever looking at it. Tilted barrel is hard to miss. The condition of the cylinder is also hard to miss. From the looks of it, the gun was filthy.

I can understand how you feel after your reported treatment by CS. What I cannot understand is why you bought the gun originally. Even the most cursory examination of the gun should have resulted in it being put back in the display case. Used guns are supposed to be checked even more thoroughly than new guns.

It looks like another case of "hit and run" or "rant and rave" without contributating to the site in any other way but to complain.

I thought the post was a good contribution! Caused me to check the cylinders in my S&W .38 and Ruger SP101. Both shiny and slick. I have PT145 and 845 no Taurus reolvers. Thanks to the photos posted I'll know what to look if I choose to buy one.
