I am no expert or claim to be, but check the little spring (on the exploded view) part # 1.11 I know when I am cleaning my firing pin channel that little spring sometimes slides off.
It is connected to the firing pin guide rod.
good luck!
Hello all,
Let me start by saying: Yes, I cleaned the striker channel thoroughly, and multiple times. Back at the first of the year, I sent my PT111(not pro) off to the factory for repair. I was having multiple failure to fires with various ammo. They replaced my captive recoil spring and the firing pin. The failure to fire is no longer a problem, over 300 rounds and all fired on first trigger pull. However, my problem began around the 300 round mark when I noticed that my slide was not going into battery and the round was getting stuck on the firing pin which was not retracting. I assumed the gun was just getting dirty, and took it home to thoroughly clean it. I took the firing pin out clean the striker channel as I did before I went to the range. Lots of gunk, etc. Cleaned with brake cleaner and pipe cleaner and Q-tips, etc. until all came out clean. It looked good. I finally got the chance to go back to the range today and within 26 rounds fired, approximately 7 would not feed due to the firing pin not retracting. I have been studying the pistol at home for the last hour, and it seems that the firing pin might be getting stuck on the firing pin lock. After unloading the weapon and field-stripping it, I actually had to use a key to push the firing pin back in. I took it apart at the range, and I did not notice anything obstructing the firing pin, ie., gunk, shavings, residue, etc. It would seem that I need to return this to Taurus, but I thought I would ask if anyone has had this experience and if you might know of a fix. Here is a picture, it isn't the most clear, but you can still see the hang-up. Thanks for the input.

The spring is intact, correctly oriented toward the firing pin, and appears to be functioning correctly. Thanks for the feedback.

Actually IMO, you are lucky. Lucky that it didn't feed with the pin in that position, as an unexpected mag dump in full-auto would have been the likely result. If you have eliminated debris as a cause, you should definitely send it in, very unsafe.
WEEEEEEE!
More fun than a Roller Coaster!
a full auto PT111.
bet that would have brought some looks at the range!
send that puppy back to taurus or have a good gunsmith look at it.

-1- When machined the tolerances are kept quite close. Tools wear and the finished cut can be on the tight side of "within specs".
-2- The firing pin is also held to tolerances and if at or on the high end can, when combined with a lower tolerance channel contribute to
the issue when the gun begins to heat.
Cold gun - all seems OK. Gun heats - channel expands just a fractional amount and does the firing pin. It only takes a small amount - and yes "hardened metal" still expands even if minimally in this case. When expanded it begins to slow and eventually "stick". You may NOT seen evidence of a spot where the two metals "gall", but I'd bet it is there someplace.
Two solutions: Send it Taurus and HOPE they read the VERY DETAILED LETTER you send along stressing the problems increasesas the gun becomes 'hotter'. The other. If you have a pistolsmith you know is good, let him have a look. I'd bet with the proper inspection he will find the problem and save to a two month wait for Taurus to MAYBE FIND the problem area and resolve your issue.
The SPRING may look OK and properly positioned, but can still contribute to the issue. All the parts need to move, smoothly and without any resistance due to expansion, weak spring or "crud" (sounds like you eliminated the "crud". Yet the spring could be involved and still look great.).
Just my humble-opinion and of course, picking it apart is what solves problems. I may not be right - but I'm confident enough to say I'd put my money on it being the issue. (Where shall I send the check?).
