Taurus wont sell mag parts, just complete mags (which are usually on backorder). For the record, further testing revealed that the ProMag doesn't need the JB Weld fix, I was able to get several feeding properly without it.

I called Taurus asking about getting replacement mags, the rep didn't know or admit that the mags were redesigned and I don't know if when I send in my old mags that I'll get the new design? I suppose I'll have to trust that only new designed mags are being mfgd and shipped.

Since we can't get mag parts, I've been going through all my 45 acp double stack mags to see if I can find a follower that may work better and can be purchased. Though I love my little PT, nothing irks me more than not being able to purchase spare parts. Especially when mags are $40 a pop.

Some great work. It's great to have time on your hands, huh? I love it! Nice slow work, well detailed and good pics (best of all!). Great range mags too. Now if the 'Big-T' would just stock and sell mag parts. Others do -- logically! Said another way, 'It ain't like the folk in Brazil are swamped with work'! The again, Davidson's has 86 of these puppies in stock; who knows how many others are awaiting sale? Maybe, just maybe, when the stock is history, new 145's will be "new and improved" (much like the original and "improved" 140's evolved). Anyone know about the configuration of the PT-140 mag followers? Close to PT-145's? Just an idle thought.

Got two new mags in the mail yesterday, both with the smaller follower. I immediately though i was going to have to send them back again when I noticed that, but I tried loading them to see if they were as tight as the old problem ones and to my surprise, they were very easy to load. I inserted each one and fed each round into the chamber manually with no problems at all over several tests each. They both worked with hollow points too!! I'm hoping that these will function flawlessly at the range too. I have another mag with the taller follower and that has had zero problems since day one. It's the mag i keep in the gun because i know it's reliable!

    Hi IrishPirate
Where did you get your 2 new mags?

I ask because I just received two new mags from Midway and they had the smaller follower also.

And where and when did you get your mag with the taller follower??

I just purchased a mag with the new design from my local dealer. FINALLY! after 7 months of magazine experiments and a couple hundred bucks in ammo, I can consistently feed hollow points. I'm sending back 3 older mags today and hopefully will get the proper replacements from Taurus.

I was having trouble with my slide not staying open on last shot with one of my mags. Looks like mine a variety A. I just took them apart and cleaned them. Hope this solves the problem. Feeding has never nbeen a issue. I have about 500 rounds throught mt pt145. Factory and reloads no issues other than the slide. Thanks for the great pictures.

Hey Telecaster, how does your gun feed hollowpoints? I always find it amazing when folks say their PT145s feed anything. Until Taurus redesigned the mags on this gun. Mine would NOT feed anything! However I've been running the 1 mag through the mill and it has been flawless for over 100 rounds now. I'm thrilled with this gun now. Really fun to shoot and is perfectly reliable. Now if Taurus could just keep up with demand on the replacements mags...... P.S. I assume you play a Tele?
