I had a few FTF with my 145 when I first got it - say in the first 2-300 rounds. Probably around 1000 rounds through it now and it works flawlessly.
Did you learn your lesson? lol
Price is not the deciding factor. I had picked the PT145 because it FELT perfect.
In my hands it seemed to meld perfectly to my grip and the balance felt ohhhhh so nice. I just liked it.
So I was going by ergonomics and the impression that Taurus made good stuff at very reasonable prices.
Never did I consider Taurus handguns to be junk. Remember, I have one (Actually a Baretta made by Taurus IN Brazil)

But I'm seeing too many complaints. Your is one of the very few positive posts.
If I want a Bersa or Kimber, th price range is ok.

    Play the lottery tonight lol
The odds of any one person EVER actually needing to pull or use their side arm is in the same ballpark.
How many stories were there this week. month...YEAR where a CCW holder defended himself with his gun?
Far and few in between. I think George Zimmerman was that guy for 2012.
    Cheers!

I carry because I have a limp and the extra weight on my right hip balances it nicely.

Have had my PT145 for a while not one FTF (since break in) ever even with cheap ammo 45cal 10+1 in a small frame you cant beat it the grip feels perfect. Love the way it breaks down. My only complaints are that there is no way to decock the striker while carry round chambered I know there is an external safety along with firing pin block but it would be nice. Second complaint is the mag was always falling out even when holstered not good if you really need it. I tried everything finally had to order a new mag release and spring. Third the design of the striker assembly sucks to take apart that little plastic part that clips on last broke on me. Cleaning the striker channel is essential in maintaining the handgun if you get dirt or junk lodged in there you will not be able to fire. I can deal with the complex steps that require 3 hands to disassemble the striker but there needs to a replacement for that little plastic piece. Also the rear of the striker spring is held by the little hat looking thing is a weak design. Overall I hate every last element of the striker assembly. Just too many weak parts to fail. Reminds me why I love my 1911s so much.

I bought a PT145 from Cabelas in June 2012 and returned it after both magazines repeatedly fell out of the gun during the first 50 rounds of shooting. I could not shoot 2-3 rounds without the mag coming out and FTF.

Cabelas accepted the return (for which they have earned a lot of my future business).

After scouring the market and finding no other .45 compact that felt as good to me, I decided "they can't ALL be bad right?" and bought another from Cabelas. The 2nd unit has worked properly for 200 rounds so far. Keeping fingers crossed.

No idea what's going on with these mags, and this thread hasn't cleared up a thing for me with all the various theories and workarounds.

Anyway so far so good and fingers crossed.

The difference is, I can lose the lottery a thousand times and myself or no one in my family gets killed.

I definately LOVE my PT145 works fantastic, smooth and exceptionally accurate even at 50 yards. i hit well in center mass. It's my winter carry sidearm. The other seasons I carry the PT140, a little lighter close to the same accuracy. I run a restaurant and I close mosrt of the shifts, and I'm confortable in knowing i have a .40 or .45 at my side and several mags.

Thank you bamf_shadowfor the very detailed and helpful instructions posted. I have followed your recommendations (cut the spring as detailed) and have solved the magazine related issue for my 145. I have a 12 (24/7) mag that I also use in my 145 and can not load all 12 rounds even with a loader. I plan to incorporate the spring mod to this mag as well.

Well, all I meant was not to lose too much sleep over it. You could also waste equal time worrying about an electrical short burning your house down, or a drunk driver killing you, or even a plane crashing into your home tonight.
Yep, tons of things you can go crazy over if you choose to.
