Congrats, and THANK YOU for all the hard work preparing this thread. I especially appreciated the extra attention 'splainin the MIM process. At a recent gun show, I was discussing various 1911's when a 'kimber kid' started to put down Taurus. He didn't have much more to say about things when I pointed out that the MSH on the $1200 kimber was plastic, and I said that "The first M in MIM means Metal". Also, glad to hear about the high priority of Customer Service, but if they get much better, people will look forward to having problems.I recently sent my 24/7G2 on vacation. It arrived in Miami (UNLOADED) on 12/2, and I had a new replacement in hand on 12/23. Three weeks!!!

I concur with the need to keep a degree of separation, but I think perhaps there could be some form of presence or contact that could be mutually beneficial. Taurus could use a resource here as a 'forum' of mostly highly experienced, and certainly opinionated consumers who are also interested in the success of the brand for product development. For example, while you guys were there, did you happen to ask anything about the constantly changing product lines?? They seem to get ahead of themselves like the PT845 w/22LR conversion. I heard a lot of hype, and searched high and low, but it appears to be 'vapor-ware'. Or further developing other product lines, like Commander or Officer sized 1911's?? Again, Congrats, and THANKS!!
a.k.a. 2LOGICL. While I do not enjoy the misery of others, I do find comfort in it.
Great job to both of you with the presentation and representation of TA to Taurus International.

O.k.,I'll say it. Da bomb!!
Offering up sales numbers or even production numbers is not something most manufacturers are going to do. We did have some discussion about that, but let me answer your question this way. Take a good look at the picture below. It is a picture of the Taurus Warehouse. What you see is inventory waiting to be sent to US Distributors. Each of those boxes contain more than one gun. Do you see any dust on those boxes? Most do not sit on the warehouse shelves long enough to collect dust. As for sales in the rest of the world? We did not discuss that at all.

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson

What I think is a telling sign of the superior quality of Taurus is the very low number of in-service firearms compared to the number being shipped for sale.
For a company that has a no questions asked lifetime warranty which follows the firearm, this company is doing VERY well both in quality and in product reliability. If Taurus legitimately made poor quality firearms they would be out of business by now instead of prospering rather well.

i think taurus likes that arrangement too, its good for them to have a sounding board that they can get real feed back from. you can never fully trust someone you are in any form of financial relationship with to tell you the full truth. when you stand nothing to gain, or lose is when you tell the full truth.
i AIM to please
Great report! I'm both grateful that you posted it and jealous of the 2 of yall! Thanks for taking the time to post this.
I've been in quite a few plants and I can tell you I have seen aerospace factories that weren't that clean looking!![]()

Excellent job on the post. The factory does appear to be top notch and as others have said, I am also jealous, this appeared to be a once in a lifetime tour. I found the casting then baking step to be very interesting.

Good job guys, regardless of where Taurus has been in the past, I think they're quickly becoming one of the world's best gun manufacturers.
Happy New Year!
