    Opinions please

    Greetings to all, I have to admit i do not currently any make or model of taurus handguns nor rifles,please hold all booing, But i joined this sight to do some research and get better knowledge of the firearms. I was really interesting in the pt 1911. So i took a trip to the local gun stores and seen it looks good and feels great in the hand. The best price i could find was 519.00 plus a 75 dollar mail in rebate. is this a fair price? I also looked into the 24/7 pro oss. I just looking to purchase a hand gun for general fun shooting and home defense. I currently on a S&W M&P 9mm compact as a carry gun. Im not use to an all metal gun as in the 1911. I would like to get one in the 45 acp. any thoughts or commets on which gun would be best would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

    This comes up alot the oss or the 1911. Its personal preference there both great guns. I say look at them both and see which one feels better.

    Welcome first and I own both and enjoy them equally. I'm a 1911 fan so I tend to lean that way. But i feel you have a lot more options with the oss so there you have it its your choice.

    $519 plus $75 off is outstanding. Shoot, $519 all by itself is lower than anything I've seen. If you're in the market, grab it !!

    the pt 1911 is a great arm, especially for range time and home defense. if you can, get one with a rail so you can put a light on it, especially if your dealer will sell it to you for that price. good luck on whatever you choose.

    I just purchased a PT1911AL. It's been a pleasure to shoot. The $519 price tag is a good one. Good luck and welcome to TA!
