Hello everyone, I'll be getting a pt 1911 in a few week's.and I would like to change the hammer with a wilson combat. being new to 1911's is there anything beside the hammer that I should order to make eveything work right. I'll be taking It to a smith but just wanted to get the parts so that I could drop everything off with the gun. Thanks and sorry for the nobb question

Hmmm.....not sure why you'd want to change out the hammer, but I'm sure that would be no problem....I've read of issues with the regular PT1911 ambi safety, but not everybody has that problem. Apparently some people have experienced the safety on the right side of the gun falling out. I have the PT1911ALR and I haven't had this issue - I've just read about it in posts. I've not heard of anything else having any problems on the 1911 series.

Thanks for the welcome. Its just a cosmetic thing I like the look of the wilson hammer. Being left handed I hope I don't have any problems with the safety. Thanks again

You may want to add a Wilson Combat sear to your modifications. It never hurts to have extra springs, a firing pin and extractor as spare parts. You may also want to get another hammer strut and strut pin so the smith can remove the original without disassembling to individual parts. These will not cost you a large sum of cash but the parts are there when you need them. Just my $.02

    Welcome to the forums.

I've put a Wilson hammer in mine. There are pics on here somewhere showing it off too.

As to what to order ... I'd suggest another hammer strut and pin, that way you won't have to beat the hell out of the old hammer to get the strut out potentially ruining both.

If you want to do it right, see if you can get a matching sear as well. That will make for a nice clean, crisp trigger.
