    RANGE REPORT PT1911 ALR

Okay guys, I finally took my gun out to the outdoor range yesterday.....I'm going next weekend for some major shooting and I wanted to be sure that my gun was up to the challenge beforehand. I took 100 rounds of Remington FMJ and 100 rounds of Blazer Brass FMJ with me and proceed to the range after work. I decided to use the 25 foot distance, and I was given a standard silhouette target:

I put the first magazine in, and let 'er rip:

Nice !! But, what's up, am I pulling the shot or something? I shoot a couple more mags full, and:

Okay, I am pulling my shots, because when I really lock my wrist and just use my finger, the gun shoots right exactly where I was looking at on the target. I shoot a few more, and it's time to get a new target......

I shot for a while, and I'm definitely going to have to 'get a grip' and hold the gun real still - but in my defense, I'm used to polymer guns and this gun is quite a bit heavier than anything i've ever fired......when I did my part, this gun is something else......

I really enjoyed putting the rounds through my gun and getting used to it. Recoil was brisk, but not overly so and very manageable. The gun is so naturally pointable, it's scary. I can't believe I've waited this long to own a 1911 and I intend to make up for lost time. If Taurus ever issues a Commander version of the 1911, I may have a new carry gun to split time with my PT145........

The gun is heavier than anything I've ever owned, but I think it's about 5 or 6 ounces lighter than a regular 1911. So far, it's great. Fit and finish is excellent, too. I forgot to mention, zero FTF or FTE's.

Is anybody else having problems viewing the pictures? They are located on Photobucket and I've not had any problems on other threads so far......let me know.

TTg, run yourself through the CHL qualification shoot. You will amaze yourself. Even better if you let someone time you for each drill like the instructors do.
