Welcome to the wonderful world of Taurus 1911's. I hope you have the budget for it, you won't want just one.
50 rounds of Tula(!) 230 gr. FMJ. The gun didn't care, no FTEs or FTFs at all. 50 rounds of Lawman 230 gr FMJ, no problems.
8 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 230 gr. JHP, the gun is like,...meh. This gun eats everything, is beautiful and stupid accurate. I'm hopelessly hooked.
The undeniable truth?
I'm a Taurus 1911 fanboy. There, I said it.
I understand why the 1911 is likely the most popular pistol ever made. The Taurus price point makes it even better (worse?)
I'm looking really hard at another one, a railed blue one this time. It's like a freakin addiction.
Trying to make a good trade on one of my other guns to make this happen.
More to come.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

Tula - really? I see a good number of people shooting it in handguns. I keep it to my SKSs and AKs - my favorite Rat-Rod, never say die guns! My AR did not like it and I ditched what was left. I want to look into the lacquer coat rumors that circulate on the net - I did have to clean my AR like hell (and I did use some lacquer thinner) to get it back to clockwork functioning. Never tried it in a semi pistol. Others?!?

I have the Blued Rail version, My observations are as follows:
It's an incredibly accurate 1911
It's so easy to work on
Finding a decent Holster is a total PITA due to the rail.
If given the choice again, I would still pick the PT1911 over any other comparable. I would even take it over the wilson commander ( I did a head to head with a friend's Wilson)
I would most likely opt to go without the rail in the future so I can buy a reasonable holster. Maybe I got incredibly lucky as it's smooth as silk, made in Feb 2012 and I bought it from Cabelas in March. I put wood grips on it and a stainless extended slide lock from Wilson. It was matt finished and I did a sand and polish on the slide stop. I still have under 800 rounds through it and I think it's only just wearing into it's sweet spot. I'm glad you enjoy yours. It will give you a lifetime of Joy, accuracy and confidence. let the Haters go on hating as you outshoot them each and every time.

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' Thomas Jefferson
