(this is not ment to be a classified ad here, just asking an opinion for you 1911 guys.)

I do have a 24/7 pro ds 9mm. in yalls opinion what else would i have to put up along with that to consider an even trade? i also have a single shot 22 would the 2 of those be about the same price range as a used pt1911?

As much as I enjoy 1911s, my advice would be to NOT sell/trade everything else to get one. IMHO, (just to keep IDLE quiet) if you, or at some point intend to, CC, the 24/7 is the better choice, plus 9mm is much cheaper to practice with. Depending on your intended use, there are a lot options to get 'into' 1911s at fairly reasonable prices. If you can get to a local shop, or gun show, finger a few and decide on options like size, sights, safeties, rail, etc., then you can shop to your price point. I was just at a fun show yesterday, and saw new 1911s from $450 - $1450, just on one display. Used prices are going to be whatever the parties agree to, so do your research and be prepared and patient.

In your opinion fine sir, in your opinion. I carry my 1911 all day everyday.

Serioisly though Mr. Zylo is correct, do not trade all you have for the sake of a 1911. The 1911 has been here for 101 years now, she will be there when you can afford to get one, a new one. Taurus makes, to me one of the best out of the box 1911's however for an entry level 1911 give the Rock Island a try. They are great weapons as well, and trust me the 1911 is alot like a lays potato chip, no one can have just one. Dont get rid of what you have to settle on a used weapon that may not perform for you, now nothing wrong with used guns, but buying your first 1911 is something you will remember the rest of yoir life.

    You got me!

I would usually refrain from such sweeping generalities, but for the sake of making the strongest point in the shortest time... I'M BUSTED! AND, I'll go so far as to tell on myself that I just ordered the Old Faithful Memorial Day Deal and will be carrying 1911s also.

My son has my 24/7, nowadays. I don't really miss it. On the other hand, nobody even gets to borrow the 1911AR, even for just one day.

I don't mean to be the contrarian, but I'd consider selling quite a bit to get the 1911.

selling alot and even selling some is one thing, if you have to sell all you have to afford it I think you wait. To each his own, bit I wouldnt dump my whole lot for ome gun that coild easily be saved for in a few months time. JMO.

I'd wait untill you can afford to get a 1911 outright. I hate selling my guns, and have only done it once, I still miss that rifle.

Everyone is different and has different opinion on what to do with "Their" firearms. Me personally If I wanted to certain gun whether it be a Pistol or a shotgun and I didn't have the adequate funds for it I would most certainly do some horse trading. I have bought sold and traded many firearms, to me its a nice hobby, its fun to acquire new guns, sure its sad when you think back about "The one" you let go, but that's the nature of the beast.

If I was in your shoes and wanted a 1911, I would start locally on Online gun classified sites, and "Test the waters" to see what you would have to add to get the firearm you want.

Again this is just my opinion, and that is what you asked of us, for our opinions.
