Taurus 1911 compared to other mid priced 1911's??

What do you guys think when it comes to Springfields,Rock River's & Para's??

I would like a Taurus 1911 but REALLY REALLY want a Sig 1911,Do you guys think the Taurus can stand up to the Sig?

As fan as reliability and accuracy I would put my PT against all but the best custom 1911s. Mine is 100% reliable and I can shoot 2" groups at 25yard.

I do own a couple more expensive 1911s and for me the difference is in finish. Taurus blue is more like a black paint coating and inside it will have more machine marks than some 1911s. It is one of the best 1911 buys out there, has a forged slide and frame and lots of options that are not std on most 1911s. I have been very happy with mine.
Knowing the quality of Sigs, I am sure their 1911 would be very nice also, I just don't care for the look of their slide.

For me, the only negative I have with my PT1911 is that Taurus used their own cut for sights, if they would have used a more std cut, sights would be much easier to replace. They are the second most replaced part on a 1911.

I would put the PT1911 on equal footing with the Sig or any other mid priced 1911, for reliability and accuracy, absolutely a great 1911,beyond that it's pretty much a coin toss, at least for me anyway.

If you compare dollar for dollar, I don't think the PT1911 has an equal. Both of mine are as accurate as my buddy's Kimber, they have a fine trigger, and if you want to dress them up a bit you have hundreds of dollars you would have spent on that Springer.

You may also want to check out the new Ruger 1911. I have read plenty of good reports of it. Of course right now it is priced along the lines of supply and demand, so they are at a premium. My son has a few Kimber 1911, which are nice and handle well. But, I just don't see or feel enough difference to justify the difference in price. Plus Colt, Kimber, STI, Para nor Ruger offered the 1911 in a bright stainless finish with gold trim. So Bling factor taken into account my Taurus is the all out winner.

I love the PT1911 in that price range it's hard to beat. I own two... but imo if you really really want a Sig, save up alittle more and get what you want man.

I think they are all very good quality guns!
never messed with a Rock River, but own a para 1911 and have shot many Springfields, the springfields , some i like, some i don't want, the GI sights don't work for me, now the Ranger Officer/Loaded models, the other upper class Springers are very nice, but expensive.
the para again it depends on the gun but really I like all of thier 1911 pistolas very well.
Personally I don't care for the Sig 1911 and i do own other Sigs, just don't like thier 1911.
will the Taurus stand up to the SIG?
well yes, quality wise its as strong, likely not as smooth out of the box!
Accuracy? sure actually that depends a lot more on the screw behind the trigger than the gun actually!
One of the reasons that i have never popped down 2-3-4 thousand bucks for a Nighthawk, Baer, Brown, Chistenson is very simply i can't shoot them any more accurate than i can my Taurus, Colt, Para etc.
but hey if you want a Sig then thats what you need to go for, they are great weapon.

I've shot a Kimber and a Colt in 1911. I'd say my PT1911s will stand up with not only the mid-range priced 1911s, but with the "better" brands as well other than custom 1911s. The decision to go Taurus was mainly due to a shooter/collector friend's recommendation that if he were to buy one today, it would be the Taurus.

I only own two 1911s a RIA/Armscor and a Springfield Loaded model. Now I've shot a number of Sigs in different models including the 1911. To be honest with you other than finish I really notice little difference between the Taurus, Sig, RIA and Springfield etc. The 1911s as a whole all shoot about the same so it depends on bells and whistles which really means little to me other than it shots when I pull the trigger and hits what I'm aiming at. I've read the pros and cons of cast vs forged and to be honest they all should last more than a single life time with normal maintenance. So to me it basically comes down to if you have the money to spend then do so if not go less expensive.
