My slide locked up!

Went to the range. Was going to try a newly purchased mag for function. Inserted it and could not rack the slide or cock hammer. Removed the mag and slide is still frozen. Cannot cock, move safety, or rack. Any answer/fix other then sending back to mother? Thanks.

The slide is in the closed (battery) position.

I checked that as well. The key mechanism was flush with the hammer. The good news is that I tried to cock the hammer again and it worked. It's all good now! Any ideas why this scary thing happened? The only thing I did different was to try to load a new cheapie mag that I bought from CDNN?

It's definitely the Metalform Mags I ordered from CDNN! I know, you get what you pay for. LOL

Well, it didn't totally lock up but the fact that I couldn't release the slide without dropping the mag tells me that's the problemo. Anyone know where to purchase some workable mags for the PT1911?

Wilson Combat model 47 mags, or Chip McCormick mags are very nicely made and work without problems.

At the advice of another PT1911 owner I ordered two 8 round ACT/Novak mags from Topgunsupply.com. They appear to be clones of the OEM Taurus mag that I have as to design of the follower.
