Sorry to see something like that happen, and the Taurus gunsmiths not be able to recognize or fix it. I suspect they have good smiths and bad smiths. Most of the best smiths are independant.
Ok, I've got an update on the status of my 1911. I sent it back to Taurus 2x now for the trigger jamming on me... they weren't able to fix it either time although they said they did... I put it up for sale...
I handed it to my buddy to take a look at... he was a gunner's mate in the Navy for 20 years and said he felt comfortable looking at it.
I get a message from him the other day (I'm currently deployed out of country)... the main spring housing is "Way out of spec" and "it looks like it was made bad from the factory" in his exact words... the MSH isn't letting the trigger reset.
I told him to replace it with one from Wilson Combat, 20 or 30 lpi checkering, arched like what it has now.
Hopefully this will fix the issue once and for all.
It sucks that I've got to dump money into a gun that a part was made bad from the beginning but it shouldn't be too much.

Just your luck to get the gunsmith from Cuba!![]()
Ha! A Cuban gunsmith. That's funny.
Well, you could send it back to Taurus again, but this time with a note telling them that the issue is very likely the MSH. You really shouldn't have to point them in the right direction like that, but typically, if they have an idea of what is wrong, they replace it with no issue. It would definitely be alot quicker to just replace it yourself, though.

As an alternative, have a look at these S&W MSH units at Midway- http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=127124Originally Posted by scorpion12

Am I misunderstanding, or did you say you PT1911 had an arched MSH?
You might need a replacement sear spring, as well.

Where did the arched MSH come from? I don't think they were standard.
