    Some people!!

I've been in a back and forth argument on another forum (dedicated to the black polymer perfection........), and the snobbish and elitist attitude of some towards the PT1911 has just got me all wrangled up inside. I like and enjoy my PT1911 and have never had an issue with it, but that's not any excuse at all for owning one though according to those jerks! They act as though just because they few can afford a much nicer pistol that we all should be able to as well. They berate my choice and tell me that I am idiotic for not choosing another brand, it doesn't matter that those other pistols don't have the features I want or are too basic a model, no I should just bow to their supreme knowledge in all things 1911 and do as they say and admit that my Taurus is a piece of junk! It's not and I won't! Sorry for the rant, I feel better now.

Now, an actual question pertaining to my PT1911... Can I just replace the hammer to do away with the lock, or will I also have to replace other parts?? I've read on here of some going either way, but I have not been able to find a definite answer.
    Thanks!

    Re: Some people!!

You could tell them one of two things....

    1. When your Block has been around 100 years, you'll consider owning one.

    2. John Browning didn't design your pistol, so no thanks.

Not sure what you're getting at as far as replacing the hammer......you mean to get rid of the safety system? I'm not sure why that bothers you, just don't use it. I'd suspect, though, that if you try to get rid of it, you'll run into issues with repairing it if that day ever came......you might void the warranty.

You just can't reason or even respectfully disagree with some people.
Good point on the warranty aspect, I'll have to look into that..

Some people have more money than sense..and those that already know it all are hard pressed to learn anything. Thats why they are really STUPID people.

I have money but I have more sense..thats why I own several tarus pistols.

I have a PT1911 AR SS and I love it very much. I have no problem with it and I dont see any reason why some people dislike this pistol. I did replaced the hummer with wilson, and also the trigger, I did this not because I have a problem but just to have fun with it. Its a drop-in.

Arguing with idiots/snobs is very similar to arguing with a horse- it wastes your time, and annoys the horse!

That being said, enjoy what you have, and let them revel in the fact that they simply spent more money. That's probably what's important to them anyway. Besides, they don't have "nicer" pistols, just more "expensive" ones. Their loss.

    Re: Some people!!

My PT1911 still retains its hammer lock,I can see no valid reason to do away with it,the pistol works great and the lock doesn't deride from performance. As for other people thinking you should only have the model they have is kinda childish,I also own a Kimber, but I will not tell a person they the only 1911 to own,my PT1911 has a Wilson Conversion sitting on it,it shoots rings around a Beretta Neos I used to own.I also carry a Glock G27,so in my opinion each tool has its purpose, and they all fill that niche greatly.

    Re: Some people!!

When I bought my PT1911 in October 2006, I was still an active Customs and Border Protection Officer. We had quarterly quals right after I bought the pistol, so I took it with me to show it off to the instructors and other officers who were gun nuts.

Those Federal LEO firearms instructors were VERY impressed by Bully - mainly becuase they worry about how a firearm functions and not how much was paid for it.

They were shooting groups about four times tighter than mine and all had big smiles and surprised looks.
