    Magazine insertion question

I have a 1911b that is a little over 2 months old. It's had around 250 rounds through it. I've noticed that the exposed round in the magazine is getting pretty scratched up on the upper lip, above the primer, and that sometimes when I'm inserting a loaded magazine, it seems to hang a little right once the magazine in around 60-75% inserted. have any of yall experienced this as well?

yeah. they're the home defense rounds that I use. Too expensive for me to use them at the range.

i see. hmm. my suggestion is try and borrow/buy an aftermarket magazine and see if it gives you the same problem. it may just be your mags. o ise a stock taurus mag and kimber mag, i will check when i get home to see if any of my hollows are scratched

Mix up the rounds so you don't keep the same one on top all the time.
Repeatedly chambering the same round or just keeping the same round on top of the mag beats it up after a while and can push the bullet deeper into the case.
If you haven't fired each of your mags with your SD rounds you should so you know if they feed reliably, shoot to the sights and how they feel in recoil. A box or two of ammo is a lot cheaper than a jammed gun in a fight.
