    Taurus 605, 650 Trigger Jobs

Over the holidays, I examined and dry fired several S&W revolvers that had extremely fine trigger jobs done on them. Double action pull similar to Taurus single action and the single action pull was incredible, actually hard to describe how good it was, pull weight was virtually ?imperceptible?.

How, who, what, where, can I get this same abilities in my Taurus revolvers?

The revolvers owner was a guy who was, is, a several state champion in different revolver classes, a police officer, a tool and die maker and he did his own revolver work, which was extensive, varied, and creative. He laughed when I asked about Taurus, but I want him to choke on it when I bring a Taurus revolver that rivals his best efforts. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I can do, have done some stuff on my firearms, but a simple Wolff spring job or deburring job just won't get the Taurus into contention in the league this guy is in.

    Can anyone help me?

I just bought my wife a nice little j-frame smith...she liked the trigger so much on one that had work done that I got her a new one and did the trigger job myself...absolutely great trigger.

So I take it you already have done the polishing and the springs and lubing the internals? If not do it, made a world of difference in the smith, I used the wilson combat spring kit. have you given it the 1000 round trigger job yet?

wore out three sets of snap caps and just over 500 rounds of mostly 38 with 20% 357 of various loadings. I can swap springs and polish internals, have done it on other guns. Will look seriously at the Wilson Combat spring set, instead of Wolff. I want to start down and stay down the right path with these CCW pieces. Thanks for the info, anything else?

Whoa Chunk351, no Wilson Combat spring set for the Taurus, looks like I'm SOL on that. Considering the Wolff set. Your thoughts?

Re: Taurus 605, 650 Trigger Jobs

I put the Wolff hammer/trigger return spring set in my Model 66 and it made a world of difference in the trigger pull for both DA and SA. I have tried 6 different types of ammo without any light primer strikes even with the 10# (lightest) hammer spring. The Taurus revolvers are relatively easy to disassemble and you can polish all the contact points which should smooth things out even more.

An easy way to polish the action on a revolver is to remove the side plate, wash out the oil, fill it with toothpaste, replace the side plate, dry fire it a couple hundred times, wash out the toothpaste and oil it.

Toothpaste is actually gritty. Squirt some into a plastic baggy and rub it between your fingers. You will be surprised.
