I figure they will recommend a heavier hammer spring, which means you can leave in the lighter trigger spring.

Great work and glad I found this info.Invaluable.I am going to take my 94 apart this weekend for a clean, lube and a little polishing. One question: Will the ball, plunger and spring for the safety lock come flying out of the back of the hammer? I just wanna get my catchers mitt ready.LOL.Thanks.

The safety lock in the hammer is pinned in place. It will not come apart unless you take it apart. I left mine alone since the safety lock does not affect trigger pull or hammer function while unlocked.

BTW, welcome to Taurus Armed cameleon.

Believe me the pleasure is all mine.By the way I don't have a safety lock key.It is unlocked now but is there a possibility it can be locked inadvertenly when taking/putting back together? I have already requested a replacement key from Taurus USA.Thanks.

I have never seen or heard of that happening without human intervention making it happen. The lock is flush with the hammer when unlocked and does not snag on anything. Even if it did catch on something, that something would have to turn it to make it come out.

You should be good to go without worry. Thank goodness you aren't stuck with a locked gun and have no key.

    Thanks for this pictorial chicharrones!

I have a 605CH (DAO from factory) and I might convert to DA/SA someday (if its even possible) when I get another DAO for concealed carry. My 605 has a ported barrel which not something I prefer on a CC gun - and its DAO is not something I prefer for a range gun. Besides the hammer, what are the internal part differences between the DAO and DA/SA? I was trying to see from your pictures, but I gather yours was originally SA/DA and still has the SA notch.
A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?

I was living the dream! I was stripped to the waist, eating a block of cheese the size of a car battery!

True, I still have the single action notch. I don't have an originally built DOA revolver. I can only imagine that the hammer and trigger in a DAO has no single action notch cut and the tip of the trigger might be left rounded.

What did the "A" team guy used to say:"I love it when a plan comes together".I got an earlier start then I thought.Using just some elbow grease,1500 grit sand paper, qtips, tooth picks I set about cleaning, polishing and lubing everything that rubbed, slid or rotated.Hammer strut and spring.Trigger strut and spring etc etc.I use STP in some spots like the trigger, hammer pin,the two struts.I find STP to be real slick.I would have to say about a 20% difference in pull. However,I never felt that the pull was that unmanageable to begin with.Stiff, yes, but not as bad as a Mosin revolver I once had for example.Hats off to Chic and his info.Made a tedious job more manageable.I'm 64 does it sound corney

Gotta send out a big thank you to chicharrones. I used your directions to completely strip down my new to me 1997 85UL... with the exception of spending an hour and a half looking for the hand pin I dropped (It somehow landed in my hoodie pocket), everything went smooth. The gun had sat for a LONG time I expect. All that was in there was dried grease and dirt. now she feels smooth and ready to play.

My only thing was that the screw that retains the cylinder/yoke is different. Mine doesn't have the spring & cap... just a screw.

Also after going though this I have 100% understanding of how my revolver works and what each part is for. That is much more than any of my auto's...

Criminals are often opportunists, I carry a firearm to minimize their opportunity of them making me a victim.
