Finally was able to see the R44102 first hand as my nephew was visiting and the Rossi is one of his carry guns. He had bought the revolver at Academy back at Christmas and there was some questions about whether it was the same as the Taurus Talo M44C offered through Davidson's.
Other than the blued steel vs. stainless, it is the same piece down to the exact weight. I still think this 44 Mag was the deal of the year! Rocky and I were through Academy and they had still had one in the case. The pistol in the case, not at the sale price that many bought at, was still $200 less than my Talo. I don't think the finish is worth the difference but it is a great handgun none the less.
I really like my Rossi R44102 it feels very similar to my 44TrackerSS4 but without the adjustable sights. Mine shoots very well with 240 gr SWC and 7.5 gr of Unique in .44 special cases.
I just bought a Rossi R44102 from a buddy of mine and I love it. The Ribber grips? Not so much. I own a few taurus revolvers and hate these grips. I can't find grips for the rossi though. You guys that have them, what grip models or sizes are you using? I like the houge grips but I don't know what grips will fit it.
I wish they would have left the three inch barrels on the Rossi 44 ...heck 3in barreled revolvers sell so good....
and they would have looked a little bit like the Astra 44 used by Clooney in "Dusk til Dawn !!"

I already had a Terminator in Stainless Steel (Inox). One VERY fun 44 mag. BTW, its barrel only measures 2-3/4"
I just bought a Rossi 44102 - which is actually marked 44c inside the crane/yoke.
It has a Houge Monogrip from Tracker on it, but I'd like to find some nice slim wooden "boot" style grips for it to make it a better concealed carry gun.
I shot my 44102 for the first time yesterday and I think I've changed my mind about wanting wooden grips.
Recoil for this little puppy is VERY stout. I ordered one of the "pebble finish" standard Taurus 44C model grips.
They look like the might be a little better for concealed carry, and I know they are great for recoil since they are essentially the same as the standard grips on a Model 605.
I am also looking for a recommendation on a holster - the IWB pancake style with two belt loops or clips - one on each side of the gun...
Well for anyone who may be interested, I got the stock grips off the tracker in the mail today and they fit just great. They are a lot slimmer, shorter, and less "sticky" than the Hogues. If they absorb the recoil as well or better than the Hogues they are really going to be a winner.
Still looking for the right holster though....
