Picked up older Rossi .22 revolver with 4" barrel and adjustable sights, release has an odd round thumb button, and psitol reminds me of older S&W handejector style. Made in Brazil and imported by company in Washington DC?. Single action firing is pretty good and very accurate. The double action is not so good, lots of mis-fires, light primer strikes. I took the grips off (nice Rossi Rubber grips -aka Pacm type). Figure the recoil spring was replaced or worn. The recoil rod has a round spring, but no normal hole to put a pin in, it sits on a triangle type support and has a cup holding the spring. Any ideas on replacing the recoil spring?
Also had the cases stick after firing them, hard to eject. Maybe just needs a good powercleaning. Looks like replacement springs is available on Numrick Arms.
Any help.Thanks
Mmm, I have a Rossi M511 Sportsman. I know after the 511, they designated a M515, essentially the same revolver I believe. Looks more like a Smith J frame than a hand ejector, though. It's stainless and I have a Pachmayr on it, came with wood grips. The importing company was Interarms, the company that impored Rossi before Braziltech bought 'em.
Not sure on taking the mainspring out. Sorry. But thought I'd put up a pic of my 511 for reference to the model, see if it looks like that. The later M515 was about the same gun if not the same.
Mine is very reliable on ignition, but yeah, the DA sorta sux. It's okay, though, 'cause the gun is a field carry and I ain't shooting at a rabbit DA.

BTW, I bet a previous owner tried to trim the spring and messed it up. The DA is stiff, needs to be that way to insure proper ignition on rimfire rounds.
