Re: Rossi Cyclops for Sale on website

Handicomp - thanks for your input. I recall the last one I seen on gunbroker, which was months ago, was hovering in the $400 to $500 price range. Seeing the revolver in that condition, make me think on the contrary that "you should see it as it is" rather than cleaned up and hiding something. Either way, I will have to think about it and send some questions to the seller.

Good idea, I would do the same if I was thinking about buying it.
Maybe you could get him to sent you or post a better picture of the cylinder/lock area.

I showed it to a buddy and he says any handgun with that long of a barrel is a rifle.

I thought that was funny. It sure should not kick with that kind of weight of the barrel. I would love to shoot one to compare it to my Dan Wesson with it's 6" barrel and less weight.

I reviewed online photos of other Cyclops and it was comparable as far as the groove behind the cylinder on the frame. I have a comfort level now. Now I have to win the auction or do the buy it now, unfortunately, an alternate is also listed which appears in better condition and has a black rear sight and grooved barrel for scope mount.

I had a Colt Det Special snubnose and a Model 19 357 mag snubnose. Couldn't hid the broad side of a barn with both. For sure the 8-inch barrel would improve "my" accuracy. In my case - this would be my alternate, close shot weapon during deer hunting with a muzzleloader for longer distances. I am sure it would also be good for personal protection in the house. IL has a bill in the works for CCW, and obviously not exactly a CCW - I would be wrongly accused of being happy to see everyone - if you know what I mean.

That hand-cannon would be a natural for a night stand gun.

An intruder would likely tuck tail and run if he found himself looking down the barrel of that revolver.

I just picked up a S&W model 27-2 .357 mag with an 8" barrel. What a sweet piece.

Well - I bought one and going through the motions of sending funds and ffl info. Smith and Wesson 586 or 686 or even a Dan Wesson would have worked with my wants; however, I wanted something different and the Cyclops has a good reputation for their trigger and accuracy. They also look intimidating, not that a deer would care. Thunderkiss69 - sounds like you scored, am not too familiar with the 27-2 model, but I would say if S&W then you did score. Looking for a holster now - anyone with ideas?

I always liked this handgun. Why did Rossi discontinue the Cyclops? Seems like they could reintroduce it in a 7 round version, what do you think?

I understand Rossi could not make a profit - basic explanation. Six rounds is plenty, but I guess seven rounds is better.

Excellent revolver, but the one I got is used and needs parts replaced. Kind of a pain, but I am hopeful in the end, it will be nearly new condition. Problems - at thirty yards, had it shooting good, but needed to adjust windage and the rear sight would move a significant distance just using my fingers. Definitely not good. Measured the gap between cylinder and barrel - ranged from 0.006 to 0.010, and the rachet had some burs on a couple of the stars/teeth. Sideplate screw is wrong - needs the pin version, not the straight screw (tighten the screw and it binds up everything. Got a contact for parts, but slow they are slow in responding at this time. Guess I have to be patient. Grips were brittle and they have been replaced with new.

Seem like you got a little work ahead of you, but it will be worth it. Does Taurus still support the gun parts wise. And what would a good price be on one in "Good Condition"
