    Very true!
MY 45 load with the 200 grain by the book/ math should be at about 930-940 FPS out of a 5 inch barreled weapon.
The 38 Super is stepeping out pretty good though at Raniers 115 grain R/N or H/P with Acc #5 @7.9 grains, believe thats around 1200 FPS.
I don't load just for speed , but for function and accuracy (the psitols not mine!-LOL) but honestly If I wanted to take a 45 acp to the range and feel like i was shooting a 22 then i would simply take a 22 and save all the reloading work, but hey thats just me.
I don't take 2-3 spark plug wires off my V-8 engine when i drive either.

If you have not ordered the bullets yet I would consider trying out the Berry's 185 gr HBRN bullet. They have the same profile as the 230 gr bullet so they will feed well in your 1911. I load them under 5.4 gr of HP-38 with an OAL of 1.260 and crimp of 0.470. The accuracy out of my 5" RIA with these rounds is the best I have found- a ragged hole for eight rounds at ten yards-which is pretty good for me shooting off-hand. The recoil is comparable to a 9mm. If you are going to use a lighter bullet with a light load I would also recommend dropping down to a 13# recoil spring.

works fine in all my 9MM and my 45's.
not exactly light plinking loads but not barn burners either.

    Glad to help!
its always great idea to reduce loads by at least 10% and work up for your particular weapons.
these show No signs of pressure in my weapons but better to be safe than sorry.
I use standard CCI primers in all my loads.
