Just some thoughts on a workup load in .223

Worked up some AA2520 loads in .223 and fired them out of my Rock River AR the other day.

Nosler Custom 55 grain bullets were the choice. Here are the pics. Load length is what I think brought the .8 and .5 MOA groups that day.

I've loaded up some 55 grain Montana Golds as well. I'll be shooting those some time this weekend or in two weeks. Cooked up a nice load for those with X-Terminator. We'll see if I can get below 1 MOA performance.

Those are fantastic groups, RifleShooter! Hmmm. Looks like I need to work with some 2520 in my AR. It worked well in a National Match M-14 behind some 168 gr Sierra Match Kings. Can't wait to try it out!

Thank you. I'm happy with them myself. I'm not sure if I can replicate this performance but it gives me room to try. If I see a group that's .5 MOA or something I figure the sample size is too small; although I've heard of ARs that can shoot sub MOA with consistency. I've never done it but that don't mean nuthin'.

BTW, my barrel isn't free-floated! I'm floored by this particular gun. I've bought a free-float fore end and will be putting it on in a couple of days to see if it will have any effect (and if it screws me up, I'll go back to the current setup, LOL).
