    9mm Recipes

Please post your favorite 9mm recipes.

    Powder, brand and charge.

    Bullets, type and weight.

    Primers, brand.

Do you clean your cases and primer pockets, any little "special" info, ie, OAL, crimp, catnip in the case, garlic paste on the bullet, etc.

I read the thread on using .380 bullets and I just happen to have a box of them.

    Whatcha got?
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

My old sig lines were trivial, this one is true.

One that works for me is:
    Hornady 124gr. 9mm XTP JHP
CCI 500 Small Pistol Primer (or Remington 1-1/2)
    5.8gr. Hodgdon HS-6
    OAL 1.06" (26.93mm.)

    Also working on another.
Same everything, but 4.6gr Hodgdon HP-38.

Deprime, resize, chamfer (if needed on new cases), tumble clean, primer pocket brush clean, and polish. (corncob media)
    Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ case tumbler.
    Lee Classic Loader 9mm.

    I use various cases.
    Winchester WSP primers
115 grain Berry's, Rainier Plated bullets or 124 grains Frontier Plated
4.7 grains of Hodgdons Universal Clays.
    OAL 1.125"

I run cases through tumbler for a couple hours. I do not clean the primer pockets. And I do crimp. No catnip or garlic for me. I use fairy dust and unicorn poo.

    3.8 grains Bullseye
    CCI 500 primer
125 gr cast lead roundnose bullet sized to .358 (Barrel slugs at .357)

I clean the primer pockets since this is a semi-auto and I'm not a big fan of high primers that can cause slamfires.
    OAL 1.125"

First i assume NO liability for these loads, use at your own peril/risk!
115 Grain plated Ranier/Berry round nose, Unique at 4.9 grains, (start load at 4.5, max 5.1) CCI small pistol primer, OAL 1.125.
same load and data for the 115 grain hollow point made by Raniers.
PS: the hollow point is not a self defense projectile , well at least it doesn't expand much for me out of a 9MM or a 38 Super, but Midway had them on sale cheaper than the round nose!-SOOOO!
these should be trucking along near 1100 FPS.

Liability Disclaimer - User assumes any and all risk and liability in using any of the Data listed below:

All Loads below use Winchester, Federal, or Magtech Small Pistol Primers.

Note: Surplus FMJ Bullets are of Winchester or Remington mfg.

Speer 88 grn JHP - 5.4 grains of Alliant Red Dot - Velocity - 1450 fps
Speer 100 grn JHP - 5.2 grains of Alliant Red Dot - Velocity - 1320 fps
    Surplus 115 grn FMJ - 4.8 grains of Alliant Red Dot - 1180 fps (OAL = 1.135)
    Winchester 115 grn JHP - 7.2 grains HS-6/W540 - 1250 fps
Winchester 115 grn JHP - 5.3 grains of Alliant Green Dot - 1275 fps
Winchester 147 grn JHP - 5.4 grains of HS6/W540 or Alliant Blue Dot - 950 fps

    Surplus 124 grn FMJ - 4.7 grains of Alliant Red Dot - 1160 fps (OAL = 1.15)
    Surplus 124 grn FMJ - 5.0 grains of Alliant Green Dot - 1150 fps (OAL = 1.15)
    Surplus 124 grn FMJ - 6.8 grains of HS-6/W540 - 1180 fps (OAL = 1.15)
    Surplus 124 grn FMJ - 5.3 grains of WSF - 1120 fps (OAL = 1.15)
    Surplus 124 grn FMJ - 5.3 grains of WST - 1140 fps (OAL = 1.15)

Berry's 124 grn PFP - 4.8 grains of WST - 1120 fps (OAL = 1.065) - This is the loading I produce and shoot the most. Very good Match loading!

    Cast 124 grn LFP - 4.4 grains of Alliant Green Dot - 1070 fps (OAL = 1.065)
    Cast 124 grn LFP - 4.6 grains of WST - 1090 fps (OAL = 1.065)
Cast 143 grn LFP - 5.0 grains of Alliant Blue Dot - 940 fps

There may be some more I've forgotten, but these worked well enough to remember.

Case cleaning varies depending upon circumstances. With my 9mm Match Loading using WST, I just throw the empties in to the Tumbler and let them come clean with the spent Primers.

Once fired Range Brass gets deprimed, washed in an Apple Cider Vinegar Bath, rinsed, washed again in Dish Soap, allowed to dry, then tumble polished. Looks almost new BEFORE it even goes into the Tumbler.

Didn't I read somewhere that WSF is the same as HP-38?

    NO!!!!

Win 231 and HP-38 are the same powder. Sorry for yelling - but don't want anybody getting "blowed up".
    Several firearms in .22LR, .380ACP, 9mm, 7.62x25, 7.62 Nagant. 7.62x54R and .45ACP. Lee Classic 4-hole turret and Lee breech-lock single stage.

I knew it was a Winchester powder, just didn't remember which one.
It does say WSF is good for 9mm.

WSF is an ideal choice to maximize velocities in 12 gauge 1-1/8 oz and 1-1/4 oz loads. Also performs well in 38 Super, 9mm Luger, 40 S&W and other fast shooting action handgun applications.

    I wonder if it's cheaper than HP-38?
Guess I'll check next time I'm at Bass.
