    44 mag & greendot powder

My brother in law use to load his own shotgun shells for skeet. he had a couple pounds of greendot powder he gave me. I have a tarus raging bull in 44 mag I'm looking for a load that I can use the greendot powder just for plinking. my load books do'nt show any loads for greendot. I've found some cast bullet loads but I don't shoot lead in my 44 do to the ported barrel. I have 240 gr XTP, 180 gr XTP,and nosler 300 gr hollow pt. does anyone have any load data for this. I have load data for 240 and 180 jacketed bullets but not XTP's any help would be appreciated!!!!!

It'll work fine for plinker loads, light loads, but is inappropriate for anything with horsepower. The XTP is a jacketed bullet. Just use your JHP data. Hard to find green dot listed for .44 mag, but you can use .44 special data. Speer's number 11 shows 5.7 grains pushing a 240 SWC (cast lead) to 753 fps. Same load behind a jacketed bullet shows 718 fps. As you can see, not your deer medicine, but would work for paper given proper sight adjustment.

This even has a 300gr load (XTP). Green dot is far from ideal for it though.

I've used the Geen Dot with 180's (and 250 &265 loaded down) in a 444SS8.

    +1 !

Consider Alliant Blue Dot and 2400 instead.
