    first handgun purchase PT92

I just bought a PT92afs about a week ago. I did a ton of research since it was a relatively large investment for me. This weekend I was able to take it to the range. I have past experience with the Beretta m9 but that was awhile ago. Although my experience with handguns is limited, I think it is a great gun. I am happy with the gun: no failures at all after 2 boxes of both jhp and fmj rounds.

The problems I did have with the gun are probably due to my lack of experience. First, I cant get all 17 rounds in the mag. I got 15 in and then quit. I was shooting low and to the left as well. The stock grips must be replaced: have hogue grips on order.

The reason I went with the Taurus though is due to price and personal recommendations from friends.

Grats on a solid start!! The PT92 rates #4 (right with the Beretta) on the Best 9s web list (under $600).

Some new mags can be stiff at first. With hi-cap mags I would get a Butler Creek Lula speed loader. Troll eBay for a bargain, they can be a little pricey but it's a purchase that you will never regret - especially 10,000 round s from now!!

    I'll make a prediction here.....

I bet you will like it!

    Welcome from Alabama.

Yes, +1 on the Hogue grips, and you will probably shoot better and better as you get used to the gun. I have a set on my Sig, but not on my 92.....grips and extra mags are my next order.

The Taurus PT92/Beretta FS92 is one of the most reliable and accurate out the box pistols extant.

    Good choice and good shooting.

Due respect - LULA speed loader sucks.

By a LONG margin, the HK speed loader is better for loading the PT92 magazines. Why? Because you don't need a table-top to bear down on. You just put the mag into the loader, and push your thumb down, and it works. Oh, and it's 40% of the cost of the LULA, too.

Welcome aboard from the GunShine State. And Welcome to the world of the PT-92. I think that you're going to like it, here.
My "92" is outfitted with a Quick Detachable Laserlyte and is on permanent night stand duty.
One of their features that doesn't get much recognition it their safe Condition One Carry mode.

I don't have one but I know people who do and love them. If what they say is true you made a great choice. I wouldn't worry about the magazines, they should loosen up a bit with use.

Congrats on the new gun and welcome from Indiana! I have the Lula loader and I love it. I showed it to 10 different buddies and they all bought one. I even showed it to one guys wife and she bought it for him for Fathers Day. He told her if I ever show her anything else I thought he might like that she was to go out and get it no matter what it was!
