Welcoming the latest addition PT-917 Blue

OK, got it picked up and cleaned and yes, it is over oiled as are most of my firearms. It is shown here with its older sister in stainless.

Haven't done any cross dressing between the two, but who knows what may happen in the future..

I'm envious! Thanks for the pix.

    I'm broke...LOL!!!

Not really, but I sure am glad Taurus are reasonably priced guns. I do however, think I'll take a short break from adding anymore to the vault for a bit.

Famous last words usually spoken before stumbling onto another "must have" for the collection!

    Nice addition, BTW!

I agree with 777 and Armed. A month ago I wouldn't have looked twice at a 900 and now I am feverishly building up a collection.

Nice guns, Jon, I really like how those grips dress them up. Are those smooth-finish Altamont Grips?

Well, yes those are the smooth finish Altamont Grips. They are a perfect fit and are a more full (thick) grip, which seen to feel great in my hand. If you are into black rubber grips, I recommend the Hogue rubber panels for the PT-92. They are a little thicker, not as much as the Altamont, but do provide an excellent grasp in the hand. The stainless above is the Silver Black and the other is the Rosewood.

You must have huge paws... I'm looking for slimmer grip panels for my PT92, and my hands aren't particularly small. It's with the PT92 that I understand what people mean when they say they shoot with the pad of their index finger. I like to squeeze with my first knuckle, and I can do that if I want with the PT92. However, the fleshy part of my palm can no longer help me grip.

I won't say that my hands are huge, they tend to fit well with the rest of my stature....OK, yes I'm a big guy. If I read correct, you would like something less thick than the Taurus factory grips. That may be a tough find, the factory panels are already fairly thin as they are. Have you tried shooting my laying your index finger on the frame just under the slide in a pointing manner. The do the trigger pull with your middle finger. I know it may sound strange, but on some pistols it is a natural feel and with practice can become a favorite hold. Part of the line of thought behind this is that it helps in targer aquisition due to the fact that it is natural to point with your finger....after all you have been doing it since you were a year old.

I've never heard of that technique. I may have to try it just to see how I do with it.
