    PT945 Religability

I'm interested in the PT945 (Or 909-911) because I have a strong affinity for "Commander length" 1911s, and one of the features I love about the 1911 is the "snick down" thumb safety, which the Taurus also has. (In fact, I have a PT92 AFS I'd like to trade for one) what has your experience been with the PT945 in terms of reliable? Obviously none of a pistol's other attributes is worth spit if it doesn't go bang when you need it to.

I don't own a 900 series so I'm not going to be much help, but I have to ask - Religability? Bill Maher isn't trying to sneak in here, is he? Just kidding. Welcome to the forums!

I owned a 945. Didn't have any issues with it. Fine weapon.

Welcome to the forum, i won't kill you on the "Religability" thing.

As far as the 945 goes, i absolutely love mine. Absolutely reliable, well balanced in size and weight, factory ported, and eats everything i feed it. Mine is an older one made in 2000, and at some point before i owned if was sent on vacation to Miami. But since i've owned it, it's been a great pistol for me.

It's not a true 1911 in hand, though being based off the 92 frame (modified) the angle and grip size in my hand feels good. No grip safety, and is a tilting barrel design rather than a locked lug and bushing design. It's a noticeable difference in thickness, not just in grip but across the entire gun. Can be carried cocked & locked but features a decock mechanism on the ambidextrous safety. Simple to break down and clean as it breaks down to only 5 main parts (barrel, recoil spring, guide rod, slide, lower), and goes back together quickly.

Talking about it makes me want to go shooting now, too bad storms are moving through Pittsburgh and i'm low on .45 ACP at the moment. But here's a little gun porn just for fun.

If you have a difficult job to do....Give it to a lazy man......He will find the easy way to do it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Yeah... I missed that extra "g" when I posted. It won't let me edit the title.

Yes, I knew they weren't 1911s, I just meant that I like those two features they have in common. ("Commander length" and cocked-and-locked carry)
