CONGRATS! I have absolutely no good reason, but I'm looking hard at one of those, maybe with the gold accents (a baby 'pimp' gun). Just feels right. Happy Shootin' and Be Safe.

Went to the SAXET gun show today and bought a new PT22... got the blued metal one with the rosewood grips. They had the two-tone with wood grips and the nickle finish one as well. All sold for $189 plus tax. I did see a couple of the new Poly models but I like the ergos and feel of metal and wood (I am old). I also bought 6 different types of ammo; CCI mini-mags, CCI standard, Blazer, Rem Golden and a couple more. In addition, I have some Winchester value pack which has fed great in 22LR handguns in the past which I am going to take to the range with me (hopefully tomorrow after church).
The pistol came from the factory with a load of goo on it and needed some cleaning. The safety is very stiff. Hopefully I will have one of the good shooters. When I loaded the magazine with CCI mini-mags, I noted the feed lips were too tight and I couldn't get the bullets in so I did some polishing to take a little material off and was able to load the mag. I noted that the barrel needs to be put in place pretty forcefully to get it to latch with one in the chamber. Hopefully some use will smooth out these kinks and I will also be able to find some types of common ammo that the pistol likes and feeds well with.
I need to give my carry PT709 some exercise as well and am going to shoot my 6 gun (made by Sig Sauer in Germany) some work. I really enjoy shooting the single action as it makes me into a better shot than I probably really am with the longer barrel and better sight picture than most semi-autos. The heft of the pistol eats up recoil as well.

a.k.a. 2LOGICL. While I do not enjoy the misery of others, I do find comfort in it.
I have one that I stick in my pocket when making a quick run to the store or when I can't conceal my PT111. It does not like bulk ammo like the Remington or Winchester bricks at all, usually ftf 2 or 3 per mag. They will fire with a second hit so I use them for shooting cans and practice. I carry CCI hollow points and have never had a hiccup with either them or the CCI round nose. Guess mine is just picky, but it's accurate and fun and fits in a pocket just fine.

Congratulations on your new firearm.
I have enjoyed my PT-22 very much. It is a fun gun to shoot, and I have been known to carry it when I am making a fast trip somewhere, it is a freat pocket gun. I had the poly blue grips, after about 500 rounds they cracked, so I cahnged them out for the Pearce rubber grips, they make a whole new gun outa the PT-22. My gun also had the gold accents, so, all black now with gold accents, it's purdy. You will find a few ftf's with just about all the ammo out there except the Rem golden hollows, for whatever reason the PT's seem to like them. Like what was said above, give it a second pull with those that ftf and they will fire. I only buy the Rem gold's now, they are dependable rounds. As you get the gun broke in, the barrel snap will improve. In the beginning I loaded the mag 1 round short, after a couple hundred rounds, I went to a full mag, never had the tight barrel stuff again. I also had a few feed issues in the beginning, nothing dropping the mag and pulling the slide back a little to drop the round didn't solve, again, as the gun breaks in, and the mags break in, this stuff goes away.
When I target practice, I start with the PT-22, about 50 rounds or so, then I go to my PT-709 Slim, about 50 rounds there as well. After that I could be practicing with most any of the other guns I have, but I usually make sure I have done both the 22 and 709 every time because I am most likely carrying one or the other more often than the others.
HAPPY SHOOTING !!!! ENJOY your PT-22 !!!!

Remington Golden Bullets and Thunderbolts should cycle fine as far as bulk ammo goes. They generally work fine in my PT22 Poly, all my other bulk stuff gets disposed of in the rifles.

The first magazine fill was a real chore... the feed lips on the magazine are VERY VERY tight and the bullets must be forced between them. Anyone have this issue? I read a "range report" from some other forum and the guy had exactly the same issue. Also the safety is VERY hard to operate. Does it loosen up? I sat there last night pushing it on and off and still seems very difficult to move.

I have not had any issues with the magazines, I got 1 with my gun and bought 2 extra, all have worked fine. I have I had any issue with the safety, it moves smoothly on/off, does have a little snap to it, but moves without any problems. I had a friend buy a PT-22, her safety was really hard to move, she also had a few other problems, it would pop the slide off/up and jam after firing a round, hard to drop the mag also. Her 'plastic' grips cracked in the first 25 rounds. She sent it back to Taurus, all those problems went away after a visit to Taurus. The gun has been flawless since.

The feed lips are pretty tight in general so loading can be a chore, i usually hold down the follower and practically drop the first couple rounds in. I would recommend a Baby Uplula for loading ease, those .22 points can kind of dig in your thumb on long range sessions. The safety isn't really hard to operate, but it does have an audible click and alot of positive contact. It's made that way because we have to remember it's a rimfire handgun. If the safety came off too easily, the firing pin is sitting rather close to flush against the back of the round. One misplaced bump or jolt has the higher possibility of a ND than with a centerfire pistol. It will become easier to apply and remove as the safety plunger wears in, but if you can't hear and/or feel the click when you go hot, i wouldn't consider the gun safe to carry at all.
