    Chrome-plating Taurus pt92

I was planning on getting my Taurus pt92af refinished in mahovsky metalife finish. Is there a person or smith out there who, beforehand, can DEEPEN the engravings and text on the slide of my pistol so that it is perfectly visible after the plating has been done? I have mine that has the very light engraving on the slide.

First off Welcome to the T/A forum, always good to have someone new stop in. Please feel welcome to come back often.

As for the engraving, check with a few of your local gun dealers to see who they recommend. Another place to try maybe a jewelry store (however I would not take the entire pistol in, field strip it and take in only the needed pieces). Could also try doing a Google search for an engraver in your area..
Make sure that the serial number stays nice and clean also.

Can't offer any advice about the engraving question, but welcome to the forum....from East Texas.

I can see how one would be worried about the engravings, But when you're having an additional finish applied to your pistol there is numerous complications that you can run into, For instance, Your PT92 is precisely Assembled in a way if you add any thickness to any of the moving parts IE; Frame rails , Slide rails , Slide catch/release lever etc.... You could possibly have a difficult time reassembling and getting it to function correctly.

Just go buy a nickle plated one. To do it right it will cost more than the gun is worth. Like $500 or more. Just saying.

I've discovered over a lifetime of gun ownership that it's simply cheaper to sell on any gun than it is to customize it. Sell it and find one that will suit your fancy without such expensive alterations. I'm known for making slight modifications to guns which cost a sizable fraction of their original value. I made one rifle up that cost $1400 in mods; the rifle was a $200 Russian-capture k98k.
