Congrats!! Nice piece of Taurus history there.![]()
Been reading alot of new to me PT99 entries but all have forgotten the letters following the 99. Here's a real 99. Just got it the other day and am trying to get used to the international style mag release. I picked up 4 extra mags for it. They are NOS M9 mags but with a little dremel work they function great, and for $5 each I didn't think I went wrong. This pistol functions great just would like to be able to find a set of wooden grips for it. Problem is when I punch in PT99 for a search it comes up with the standard upper mag release style grips?? Any idea if Taurus would still carry them??

a.k.a. 2LOGICL. While I do not enjoy the misery of others, I do find comfort in it.
She is a classic in her own right. I have come across a few grips on Ebay and Gunbroker a few time for the older model 99. But, it can be hit or miss. A few of the sets of wood grips are a little worn, but wood can aways be altered, sanded, refinished and made t fit...unlike plastic.
Congratulations!Looks to be in good shape for it's age and you did very well on the Magazines!
If you do replace the Grips, don't throw away the original grips and try to keep those with the pistol.

Congratulations on your new firearm.
I also have the old model PT99. Bought it in 1986 or 87, new for 180 bucks. What can I say, great gun, wouldn't part with it.
Any luck on finding a set of wooden grips? I saw a set at a gun show a couple of weeks ago and almost bought them. He wanted $35.00 for the set. They will be back around in a few months I will get his contact info for you if he still has them.
He also had 3 factory magazines for the same model. He wanted $60.00 each. They are different in the fact that they will not work in the newer models as there is no notch for the mag. releases current position. I did not realize this until I tried my older ones in my newer one and they fell right out. Nice that they included the lower cut out in the newer mags.
