Okay, well I had a happy 4th of July. Put 150 rounds of Federal - 115 gr Brass Casing through my 809. Not a single hiccup! This gun is still breaking in and it just gets sweeter and sweeter along the ride!!! Thank you Taurus!!!

I hadn't checked in yet but I guess it's time. I'm on my second 809 after Taurus replaced the first one (this one had trigger reset problems and issues with low/rearward extraction of the casings). The second one only has about 50 rounds through it. It shoots smooth and straight. I really love the feel of a polymer hammer fired handgun. During my short session, I had some failure to feed that I didn't have on the first one. This one also likes to throw brass low and back at the shooter. I was shooting Federal 115gr and I plan to buy at least 50 rounds each of something at 124 gr and 147 gr to see if the heavier loads cycle differently and give me a better extraction flight path.

I'm so in love with this platform though and I plan to be patient with it.

New PT845 Owner here. Well, actually it's my wife's gun! She has been wanting a gun and a deal came along and we got this instead of the 9mm she originally planned on getting. A friend of mine and I went out last weekend and put about 40 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass through the gun and it shot very well. One strange thing that happened to my friend while shooting this gun was the magazine dropped out while he was raising the gun to aim at a target. I read on this forum that this is somewhat of a common issue. I will be inspecting all movable parts for some kind of foreign object that could be causing this problem. I noticed that this gun had noticeably less snappy recoil than my friends S&W .40 caliber Sigma. Overall I was very impressed with the gun and I look forward to putting many more rounds through the pistol in the near future. On a side note, I was going to try and get some Tulammo rounds for this gun but I have been unsuccessful to get these locally because everyone is out of them. My friend has put about 500 rounds through his 40 caliber without any problems so I thought I would give them a try also. I know there are a lot of mixed opinions about the cheaper ammo, but I won't know if I will have problems with it until I give it a try.

I just realized this thread had slipped to Pg. 2, so I thought I would bump it back up top. My 809 has about 850 rds through it and Friday I plan to hit the 1K mark. I really do love this pistol and am seriously thinking about an 845 now. My 809 is blued, so I may have to add some bling and get the 845 in stainless. I've got a little bit of wear on the slide from carrying, but overall, I think the tenifer finish is pretty durable.

Just wondering. Has any 800 series owners torture tested their pistol? Like mud, water, sand, endurance and other stuff like that. If you have can you post the video or tell us how it went.

Just took my pt809 to the range today. Happy as all get out with it. 100 rds, no FTF's or FTE's, and I must have bought 2 boxes of decent ammo, with no hang fires. I went to the range with a buddy of mine and took the first turn at the silhouette. 10 rds in the mag, 7 yds (I know not very far, but I'm better with a rifle than a pistol, I'm still learning) ...... 10 rds in the 9 ring or better. Must have been a little beginner's luck because I had a little trouble replicating that as the range time went on.

My first Taurus and all-in-all, I would have to say I'm satisfied so far.

Good to hear! Yes, definitely "beginner's luck"

Two things are probably going on: as you fatigue, you shoot worse. Secondly, you learn to flinch!

Keep plugging at it, and you'll extend your endurance, and you'll learn NOT to flinch. Among other things, make sure your last three fingers are wrapped tightly around the grip. Don't rely on your thumb-index finger to grip the pistol.
