That it is, but if PT58s were being sought after since PT59s aren't seen much here in the U.S., then I thought I'd give you the next best thing.

After researching U.S. gun books and Taurus models the PT59 shows up no where except by doing a google search.

It helps if you have Portuguese translation online or for the computer itself.

It's a good looking pistol and the longer barrel would give improved ballistics.

    If you're really interested in a high-cap .380 (19 rounds + 1), look at the PT58 HC. There isn't a .380 in the world that's worth $2,000.

Not so much the high capacity of it. It's more that it's a full size frame. Again I have a big hand. And a love a 380 as a close quarter weapon. I've owned a Pt-58 12rd for years. Now, some would say that a close quarter weapon should have a short barrel, like the pt58 sold here in the US. Well, still looks pretty cool.
    Pt-58 .380 decoker SS, Pt-911 9mm, Poly 605 357, FNP 40, FI Mod D .380, Remington 700 .270, CZ American 17 hmr (honey maple stock), Ruger 10/22, RIA 9mm/22TCM

    LOL

Welcome, my friends, to the sad and revolting reality of Brazil !

You haven't overlooked the translator, the prices are really THAT high. If there is any mistake, it's about the actual exchange and local prices.

PT-59s are going for 3000 - 3400 reais. in reliable stores, with online purchase. Where I live, in the state of Maranhao, they go for more than 3800 reais. Now 2 reais for each dollar, you make the math... and we are well-aware that Taurus isn't THE hight quality gun maker out there; you see, Glocks will sell for about 2400 dollars in here.

It's a mix of heavy taxation and an anti-gun doctrine.

I own a PT-59, purchased it in May, and got my CCP for it later. I am a pilot of an airborne public security and civil defense unit; I figured that a hi-cap 5'' Beretta clone would fit me well, since I would carry it in a leg holster (size wouldnt be a such a problem). It's probably the greatest firepower I could get, since calibers above .380acp are not allowed for civil pilots here, even if you are working with the police.
As for me, Im willing to trade it in a Bersa CC. That is solely due to a CC issue, since the PT-59 itself (though MONSTRUOUS) shoots and feels great on the range, with awesome mag capacity. As some of you said, it is indeed the latest PT-58 HC Plus with 5'' barrel, both guns share the same hi cap mags.

    cheers!

Welcome to the forum! It's good to know somebody from where our favorite guns are made. People here love Taurus for their reliability and great lifetime waranty.

As far as the 59 goes, I would really like to own one, but alot of people here think it's rediculous to have a 380 in a full size frame.

By the way, do you know of anybody over there who will make and sell grips for Taurus guns? I have a PT-58 12rd. I can't get wooden grips made for it.

Anyway, welcome and thanks for your comments.
