The keylock was only incorporated sometime in the last 10 years or so. The PT92 has been made for a very long time, and there are many that don't have the keylock. I wouldn't worry too much about that.
If you go to the Taurus website www.taurususa.com you can find a link that will allow you to search on your gun's serial number, and it may tell you when the gun was made.

how to know if my pt92 is authentic
hello im newbie i purchased a pt92 today but i noticed that the pt92 are no keylock at the back of the grip.Im from philippines.i hope you can give me an idea if this is not good.

As a matter of fact, there are many shooters who refuse to buy a gun with a key lock. The term is "a solution looking for a problem".

wow thanks for the responds.actually its ok theres no keylock not like the pictures on the net..im just worried if i bought a fake taurus in philippines.but i hope its authentic.thank you guys so much.actually my planned id to buy a pt100 but i chose pt92 because someone told me about the complicated of the .40 cal when it jammed.thats why i decide to get pt92.

I would be very surprised if 9mm wasn't much cheaper than .40 in the Philippines. The relative cost of ammo is why I don't own a .40. If I want bigger than 9mm, I'll go whole hog with a .45.

Taurus has been known to produce a version of a gun for American consumption, and another for the rest of the world.
