    Two-tone PT99

    Hi all,

I bought my first Taurus, a PT99, last month. So far I'm very pleased with it.

As you can see, this is an older model. It has some wear on the barrel, but the locking block looks good.

I'm not sure the two-tone look is original from the factory. There were two older PT99s in the case where I bought this: mine, and one with a blue frame and stainless slide/barrel. However, the other one did not have the decocker, so it was even older than the one I bought.

Does anyone know if Taurus offered a two-tone pistol like mine?

Regardless, it shoots very well and looks good too.

I'll probably pick up the Beretta locking block and spring kit and a second magazine. I'm also thinking of getting a .22 conversion kit.

    Regards,

    -Drew

The pistol, while good-looking, may be a mix-n-match. I think that Taurus went to laser-etching the slide at about the same time they incorporated the decock feature with the safety. I prefer the old roll-marking to the etching; I found out the hard way that reblueing will remove etching; I now have a "slick-slide" PT92.

That's what I figured. I suspect that the same person took both of the pistols in to the gun shop where I bought this one. At some point, he probably switched the slides and barrels, then decided to sell both guns.

So now I've got a very nice, somewhat unique pistol.

I have to say that, growing up, I thought that Taurus made the "cheap knock-offs" and Beretta made the good stuff. But this pistol is a real quality piece of work!

    Regards,

I was thinking the Ol switcheroo too.

Still, what a great gun! As good as any mass produced 9mm out there!

I just can't get enough of mine!

    I agree!
I have never seen that combination on a Taurus 92/99 either.

By golly, that's one of the "purdiest" pistols I've ever seen!
