    Re: pt99 parts list

Wow a lot of work on the gun and the list! Thanks though. I've never had my PT99 or my Beretta down that far.

    Re: pt99 parts list

well it was made in 88 so i figured i'd tear it down to nuts and bolts for cleaning, im going to treat most of the parts in eezox and figured it would be easier to do without it being assembled.

should have seen the stuff behind the extractor it was like sludge.

the slide stop and take down button was painted with krylon yesterday in case you're wondering.

only thing i did'nt take out was the sear and spring.. never taken one out and i heard they are an absolute bear to get back in.

the sear spring is extremely strong heavy duty.

AWESOME job. I own two of these puppies and I feel like we should all chip in and buy you a beer! I'm sure this is a topic of other threads but I'm a TA.net noob: aside from Taurus "restricting" a bunch of parts, anyway to obtain/make the rear sight pin replacements (other than paying taurus, if past 1 yr, for the part and shipping)? Kinda an amateur self taught 'smith-curious tinkerer and have replaced and repaired a bunch of my own firearms and would think there's an easier way to get a simple pin than pay and/or mail it off. Same question for extractor spring (doesn't always feed/extract single round, so not a mag problem). Again I'm sure I could find another thread but apparently I haven't mastered how to search for what I'm looking for without finding only one semi relevant thread. Any advice or direction for a young new member would be appreciated.

I really want to do the Beretta D spring swap and go with a lighter trigger spring. I've torn down every firearm I've ever owned down to bare frame, but not my 99. I searched for youtube vids, but keep coming up with Beretta specific vids or later model 99 vids with the decocker. I have questions and need help before I get brave. I've seen vids on pushing the lanyard ring upward and letting the pin drop out. Not happening on my 99. I'm guessing I'll need a punch and drive the pin out to access the D spring? I really need a vid featuring the non-decocker model 99 to help me through the trigger and d spring swap.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Okay, finally got the roll pin out to remove the lanyard and hammer spring. I'm going to replace the roll pin with a solid pin tomorrow to make removal easier. Now I have to get up the nerve to tear into the trigger assembly. I also want to see if the mag release can be reversed. I found a video on it, but it's for the Beretta and looks to be different with no pin to remove.

unit 505: I want to change my mag release also, just haven't gotten the nerve to put a punch to a roll pin when nothing is broken. Yet!
