    Taurus PT908 Questions...

    Hi all!

My cousin just picked up a Taurus PT908. I've never heard of it before, so after some googling I learned it's been discontinued since '97, and I read that some of them can have some extraction issues. Anything to look out for in particular?

He doesn't have any mags for it... any idea where he could find some? Also, do they offer only 8rd mags, or do they have 10rd mags as well?

Most importantly, can you safely dryfire a Taurus Pt908 without damaging it? With or without a snapcap? Its his first handgun, btw.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Taurus PT908 Questions...

    I recently purchased a PT 908.
There are Mags on Auction Arms. Here: http://www.auctionarms.com/search/auctions.aspx The 10 round ProMags appear to be extra long. I don't have any of those.
There are also a couple listings on Gun Broker.
    Here: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.aspx
Even Taurus lists them on their site, but I haven't checked with them, yet. Here: http://www.taurususa.com/accesories-magazines.cfm
Even Cheaper Than Dirt lists factory mags for them. Here: http://www.taurususa.com/accesories-magazines.cfm They ain't cheap, but they are O.E.M.
    Good luck.

I still have one and it's been a very good handgun!

Yes, it was discontinued in the late 1990's and was replaced by the higher capacity PT911, which still has the basic PT908 Slide Assembly, as does the PT909

I prefer the 8 round Magazines for it, as I sort of need the Finger Rest on the Magazine Baseplate for my hand. I really have no use for the 10 rounders although I have a couple of them. Pachmayer used to make Stainless Steel Magazines for it. These, Factory, and Mec-Gar, are the only magazines that I recommend for it, if you can find them.

Wow, thanks everyone! Nice find on the gunclips one, best price so far.

Is the PT908 safe to dryfire, or will it damage the internal parts?

In general, it is safe to dry fire, but for prolonged dry fire exercises, I would use a Snap Cap.

Definitely! Thanks again. Yeah, I always use a snap cap when I dryfire with my Glocks. I'll give my cousin a few. I noticed that cheap mag was a promag too lol. Its all good though.

Thanks again everyone! He's stoked, we're going to comb the local gunshow this weekend for some mags and then hit up the range.
