    PT101 and ammo

Gonna be building my stash of 40 cal ammo for the two 101s I just bought, and am wondering if anyone has found any rounds the 101 doesn't like.
Since cost is an issue, I prolly will be getting a lot of whatever I can afford to buy in bulk, and don't want to get some that isn't dependable or causes jams in the 101s.
I think we have a upcoming gun show, and hope to pick up some decent cost ammo there.

I have been shooting federal 180 gr FMJ FN with no problems at all. I am new to handguns but have had no problems and it shoots as accurate as I am! I get it from wally world box of 50 for 14.00$ My 101 seems to like it and it shoots pretty clean. I am like you and would like too see what everyone else recommends, but as far as I am concerned the federal works great.

    Re: PT101 and ammo

Just bought my 101 on Saturday 2/6 but was able to shoot 50 clean rounds of Winchester white box ( target and practice ) 165 gr FMJ through it on Superbowl Sunday. Bought the ammunition at Walmart, box of 100 for about $27.50 before tax.

My 13 yr old son was knocking down metal targets @ 15 yards pretty regularly.
Bitten by the gun bug..... bad

I've shot mostly Federal American Eagle 180gr FMJ for range practice so far. Academy had these on sale a while back, so I stocked up.

I've also tried the WWB USA 180gr JHP.Walmart sells it at a pretty good price. This can be a good SD round for those on a budget.

I load Winchester 180gr Bonded PDX1 for home defense. Only shot one box so far, since this stuff is pricey. I like the nickle plated cases, which doesn't tarnish and wear like brass. Good for SD ammo that I may keep around and handle repeatedly (swapping magazines occasionally to relieve mag spring).

No problem with any of them.

    Re: PT101 and ammo

I got a chance to try mine out yesterday. Using WWB 165 gr. Shot quite a bit low( 3-4" @ 15 yds.) until I adjusted the sights. Suspect it may have been set for 180 gr. from the factory. That's the beauty of adjustable sights. The WWB ran 100% and seemed fairly accurate and not particularily dirty. I'll probably burn some more of it before I get set up to load .40.

For what it's worth, the 101 ran flawlessly also. 100% reliable and fairly accurate. Trigger is a little stiff for my tastes, but that's pretty easy to correct.
