    Making PT99 DAO?

I removed sear and was about to put it back in and figured I would ask if the gun will function without the sear in. I realize the safety will not work and that doesnt bother me. I know this worked in my Berettas in the past but since the Taurus has the manual safety I did not know for sure if function would be affected. Function check ok and I did some dry fire(with snap cap) and it seems ok other than the trigger pull being a bit hard. Will this be ok long term in the Taurus?

I was about 12 when I learned that kind of tinkering isn't a good idea.

I'd have to ask, why? My thought has always been, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

    Re: Making PT99 DAO?

I realize its odd that I like DAO but I do. I had a Beretta 96D that I loved to shoot and have been shooting glock and other DAO pistols for some time now. This goes against the traditional platform so it isnt going to be popular but I am sure there is some Pt92/99 owner who has thought about or tried this. I know a Beretta is ok to do this though a DAO hammer is advised to get after the conversion.

Then why don't you trade in your PT99 for one that is DAO ? I'd much rather do that than possibly invalidate my warranty and have to pay a gunsmith hundreds of dollars to make the gun right again.

    Re: Making PT99 DAO?

It is possible to turn your PT99 DAO, by filing down/removing the SA Notch on the Hammer drum. Just make sure to leave the 1/4 Cock Notch intact. You can also remove the Hammer Spur if desired. Touch Up Blue should be applied to the resulting bare metal surfaces.

Just remember, this modification WILL violate your Lifetime Warranty.

    Re: Making PT99 DAO?

Just an update. I put the sear back in and replaced the mainspring with a "D" spring and the trigger is great is double action. I bought a Beretta 96D centurion and the taurus trigger feels better than it does. Thanks for the advise, guys.
