So i am in this pawn shop --- again!!

I had been toying with the thoughts of putting a 18 barrel ($140) and a pistol stock ($40) on one of the pumps I have. then I thought why screw with perfectly good gun. SO why not just pick up a pawn shop gun and saw the barrel and stock off?????

So I am in this pawn shop... yep you already know where this is going dont ya.
My pawn shop buddy (I have bought from him before, just a few times, in GUN BARREL CITY Texas,, yes its really is a town.
Anyway he has this Remington 870 pump for sale all wrapped in vinyl camoflage and camo DUCT TAPE, I never knew they made camo duct tape.
The action is tight and extractors and trigger feels good. So I made a deal
I peeled all the camo off. The wrap kinda pulled the finish off the wood and the steel has gotten a bit of surfsce rust forming. The wrap was a do it yourself so moisture got under it. Especially the fact that they wrapped over the vented rib on the barrel. The best part is that when I peeled the camo it turned out to not only be a 870 but a EXPRESS MAGNUM, and the barrel has the remchoke system with the MOD choke in it. So it will shoot either 2 3/4 or 3 in mag 12 ga shells.
Thought that I would cut it down or just refinsh the wood and add it to the safe.
THen I decided NOPE! I ordered a adjustable stock and foregrip.

Next maybe a 18 in barrel and extended mag tube and a tactical light..

The pawn shop addiction is pretty bad, a few of the regulars I hit they recognize me. One in particular when I walk in the door the owner tells his son " watch your wallet, he's back"!! Gee I hope that means I am making some pretty good deals... I like to think I am fairr?? like they would loose money?

Gun Barrel city is ok but you haven't lived until you pass through " cut and shoot" Texas. Between conroe and Cleveland Texas on hwy 105!!!!

Sounds like a pretty cool little project gun. Have you considered refinishing the metal with cerakote or duracoat? You can go from mild (flat black) to wild (camo, skulls, etc.). You could end up with an awesome custom 870 for around $200! Can't beat that! I'm jealous. I paid $299 for my new 870 HD magnum and it's one of the "cheap" new ones. Still a great gun, but I would rather found an older express for less money!
