I have really enjoyed some of the recent discussions about the AR15. It's clear we have several AR fans here who either are planning on, or already are building an AR or two. I thought it might be cool to have a thread here to ask build questions, post deals on parts and tools, share build pics, post reviews, and any other DIY-type AR15/AR10 posts.
Thread rules are simple:
ONLY DIY-related AR15/AR10 posts PLEASE (See above for examples).
No degeneration into an AR v AK discussion or any of the other endless debates (you know what they are). I.E. No "Oh no! Here we go again" posts.
No AR bashing.

I'll start off with my first build...well... build/buy. I'm sure it won't be the last.
I built the lower from scratch.
Double Star stripped lower
Palmetto State Armory lower parts kit
Rock River standard A2 buttstock
Currently waiting on a Del-Ton A2 16" mid-length lightweight upper. I HATE waiting!

I agree, I don't know about making it "official" though, we don't have an 800 series section yet. Just edit that that question mark off the title of this one...I'll be happy to contribute tomorrow.
First deal post.
With it being Black Friday, this is only a sale price, but it's a great deal.
Palmetto State Armory - $57 stripped lower (includes shipping, but not FFL fee). Regularly $87 shipped.
Del-Ton Industries - $395 (flat-top) or $403 (A2 upper) shipped. Regularly $485 shipped.
Total - $450 TO YOUR DOOR for a complete AR15!!! FFL fees apply of course.
I'm not sure about stickying it, that would have to be discussed and approved by both houses of congress.
I built mine about 4 years ago - gosh, was it really that long ago? Right before the Obama scare, I was already procuring parts to build it. I bought a Brownells lower, a DPMS A2 upper, a hardware kit, a Tapco buttstock, and then I replaced the standard foregrip with a Command Arms quad rail foregrip - this is about the only modification I've done with the rifle. I have installed an Israeli vertical grip that doubles as a bipod. The Bushnell red dot scope is co-witnessed with the iron sights.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

LOL my AR has been in so many different directions it would take 5 pages to take everyone through the build process's. LOL kind of sad when I think about how I could have gotten more than one AR-15 for what I put into the configuration of this one. I will post a picture and the process of the current config soon.
Ive made 4 so far with 1 stripped lower waiting to be turned into a 6.8spc setup. Ive got 2 - 5.56 and 1 - 9mm and 1 - .22 . were actually leaving in 1/2 hour to go play with the toys at the range.
AR15.com has some excellent articles on building your own. When I built my first AR I used that sight a lot.
That is good advice. I've probably spent 1,000 hours on arfcom over the past year or so researching stuff for my projects. I've been a member there for about a year and a lurker for much longer. I just thought TA.net would be a good place to ask questions without getting ridiculed for being a noob, or not agreeing with the hive. People here are much easier to get honest answers from IMO.
BTW. I added some pics above of the lower I built. I'm waiting on an upper I ordered on Black Friday.
