    Tricked out my Ruger 10 22 :)

Came really, really close to buying a Smith & Wesson M&P15 22 this past weekend at the gun show. Price was $399 before tax. I was able to practice restraint and didn't buy it.

Instead, I bought the Archangel 5.56 stock kit for my Ruger 10 22. Cost was about $110 and I have $100 in banana clip, forstock, bipod, and 2 extra side picatinny rails.

    Went from this,

To this... in less than 24 hours and +/- $200 in parts

    The stock S&W M&P 15 22 looks like this.

I still would have spent ANOTHER $50 in forgrip and bipod if I'd have bought the S&W. So... instead of $480 in accessories and cost of the M&P, I spent just over $200 and tricked out my Ruger!

Here is a late night close-up of the added on side rails... done after the assembly of the Archangel kit. Notice my outside pics above... there's no side rails in the photo by the pool and waterfall. I made 3 different trips to Academy today gathering parts

Did you REALLY transform the gun in the first pic to the gun in the following pics?

I don't know, but I kinda like the looks of the original better. But to each his own. Enjoy it.

    I know.. I know..

Stock always rings true in my heart, but I've been wanting an AR style rifle with the affordability of shooting .22lr ammunition. I went to that gun show with just over $500 in cash in my pocket, but just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

Finances dictated that I could spend $200 and 'transform' my Ruger OR close to $500 and buy the purpose-built S&W.

Nice thing is, about 1/2 hour worth of breaking it all down and I can recreate the same rifle in the first picture.

I KNOW Milpro has been around the block and knows the value of 'if it makes ME happy, then I'm happy'

Heck, if I find out later that I feel what I did was stupid, I'll buy the S&W M&P 15 22 and transfer the $100 in parts over to it!

It is amazing what is available for the 10-22, almost a cult has grown up around them. I have no interest in them myself, but many swear by them

I love my 10-22 but then again I love all my guns. If you ever want an AR that will shoot 22 look at a .223 with a conversion kit. That way you get a .223 gun with the ability of shooting on the cheap. They are fairly accurate and from what Ive seen dependable.
By the way, good looking gun!

Kewl! That's one of the great things about a 10/22. There is a lot you can do with aftermarket parts.
