What target do we use or does it matter?
The idea has been proposed, seconded and approved in another thread that we have a .22 LR shoot out. The rules are simple.
1. Caliber is .22 Long Rifle
2. Range is 100 yards.
3. Course of fire is 5 rounds.
4. Entry consists of a photograph of the target with a ruler in the picture to verify measurements.
5. Deadline is midnight November 1.
6. Prize for best group is bragging rights until next November.
I would also propose that the winner has to post a picture of his gun.
Now, unless someone with some actual artistic talent will step forward and volunteer, I will come up with some kind of logo that the winner can use during his reign as King of the Teeny-weenies.

Doesn't matter - that's what the ruler is for.
I thought about using a standard target, but targets are expensive, and I, for one, would rather spend my money on ammo. I usually stick an orange dot on a plain piece of paper. My old eyes pick it up better than a black bullseye.

Thought I'd post this now so it would be near the top. As results come in, I'll edit this to include scores.

Thanks MK.
I think this is a great idea. Sounds fun. It would be nice, though, to have a 50 yard category, because the only outdoor range near me won't allow 22's on the 100 yard range for some dumb reason. I know 50 isn't great, but for me it's all I have available. Fifty yards would also allow iron sight competition - well I guess you could still do that for 100 yards, but I've got some serious respect for somebody who can shoot a one inch group with iron sights with a 22LR.![]()

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

Carry On !
It's funny, I already have a target peppered with .22's from 100 yards with my Marlin. Only problem is from that distance they wouldn't penetrate the backboard at the range. It's from the last trip I made with my Mosin out there, and I used the same target. It's just that you can't see the shots from that far away. I guess I'll have to use a reactive target so my shots are visible, I think I have one left.

thanks for the target gwk it printed fine for me
How about it depends on interest. The only problem with more categories is a dilution of effort. Overall, I think we should stick to one class/one prize open class for now, but I will be happy to award honorable mentions for other efforts.
I suppose if the 100 yard winner is going to be King of the Teeny-weenies, the 50 yard winner could be Queen...
And as far as iron sights go, sounds good to me, since I have one of theseon order.
