    Armsport, Inc.- Heard of it?

I'm looking for anyone who might know about Armsport, Inc. guns. It seems they have gone out of business but I cannot find much information on their products. I inherited an Armsport, Inc. Model 5226 (Black Powder Percussion .50 cal) from my grandfather, I believe they came as a kit. Just trying to find information about availability of parts and see if anyone else has guns/stories/interesting facts from the maker.

Re: Armsport, Inc.- Heard of it?

After doing a bit of digging, all I can really say is it looks like they were more an importer/distributor of firearms and not a manufacturer. Some sites I saw say that there's a manufacturer stamp on the barrels.
Being a possible kit gun, I have no clue if it'd have the actual manufacturer stamp on it or just the Armsport stamping.

I'll check with some of our locals next time I swing into their shop too. I'm curious now<g>

    Gamecock,

All that I could dig up is the following..

    Armsport, Inc.
    3590 Northwest 49th Street
    Miami, Fl 33142 (305) 635-7850

Sounds like they may be a distributor and not the original manufacturer..but it's a starting point.

Armsport was the importer, not the mfg.
Check the proof stamps on the barrel.
If there is an "I" inside a box, it was mfg by Investarm.
    A quality builder.
Pictures would help, is this a Hawken type?
The proof stamps will tell you mfg and year of mfg.

Thats for the information guys. I do not have the box, this was a gun my grandfather just kept above his fireplace because it looked nice there. I have to go to class now but will post pictures later tonight!

No, no need for the box
    The "I" looks like this stamped on the barrel {I}
Should be with the other writing on the barrel located near the
    rear sight.

    This should help explain some.

All I could find on the barrel is "Made in Spain #36" and "EX A6188". I'll do some research now.

My bad. Thought you had said made in Italy.
Info I gave won't do you any good then.
There should still be some proof marks on the gun,
then do a search for mfg's of Spain proof marks.

I have the same gun, except on mine it's serial number is EX A 8 788 (I don't know that the spacing is appropriate that is just the way it's spaced out on the barrel). It even says made in Spain # 36. I haven't found anything about it and I've been looking for quite some time.
