    Non-1911 .45 Pistols?

I have a 1911, but I'm thinking of getting an SA/DA pistol in .45 ACP, preferably with an exposed hammer and a 5 inch barrel. Any recommendations?

EAA Witness, or CZ-97, can't really think of any others that meet your criteria. I have the Witness match in .45, but the match is SA only like your 1911, the regular witness is SA/DA. SAR makes the K2, but I have never seen or fired one. I do have two SAR pistols that I love, but they are the polymer framed 9s quality on them is very good. The PT945 might be a good choice, but they are discontinued.

The Smith & Wesson 4506 will fit the bill very nicely. The 3rd gen Smiths are outstanding handguns.

Right of the bat what comes to mind for me is the EAA Witness (i think its 4.75 inch barrel) and the Beretta PX4 full sized gun.
The EAA should be had for under 500 and the Beretta for just a tad over 500.
You might also want to take a look at the Stoeger Cougar in 45 acp, it the sleeper in the bunch and a really good weapon.

A Bersa Thunder .45 UC is an affordable semi .45 with a ambi de-cocker and safety but has a little shorter barrel than what you want....

How about the FNH FNP? Full-size, 15 round mags, and SA/DA operation.

Taurus PT945..discontinued, but well worth the hunt to locate.
