I had that concern way back in ????? well what ever year that it was that i bought my 41 magnum D/W!
you would be amazed at just how much faster that this system is than the Colt/ S & W system if you practice it.
remember that this company virtually owned all pistol cometition for years, its a very well thought out system as well as being stronger.
you can reload these weapons with a speed loader before a cat can lick his---ahh paws!
everything is done with the left hand, and you can push the cylinder open with the fingers of the left hand, at the same time that you right hand is poping the speed loader in.
of course thats for a right handed persons!
lefties shouldn'e be allowed to own D/W's or 1911 's anyway!

    Congrats!
i have seen a couple just like yours on a local gun trader site here, both were in the 700-750 range!
The only thing that i have ever regreted in owning my D/W was first- not buying the complete pistol pac, and not keeping the original grips and box that came with it.
simply amazingly accurate, strong well functioning weapons, everyone that i have ever picked up.
heck who ever thought that D/W would go under!
back then the specualtion was they would run S & W out of business.

This one has one small spot of rust (about twice the size of a head on a pin) on the side of the cylinder. I've been working on it and I think I can mostly remove it. But it's so small it's hardly noticeable. There's zero bluing wear on any edges, just the usual wear (for a DW) where the crane pivots in the frame. From the serial number I figure this one is late 70's. Serial number data is spotty, mostly from the DW forum which collected their own data from members who are original owners. The original records are at BATFE somewhere and not available.

It also doesn't have that purple tint to the frame you often see. The bluing is remarkable. I usually see them at $500-$600 around here. This was listed at $450 and I got some off that because he didn't have the barrel wrench. Could not pass that up, especially considering the condition.

Fantastic Glen! I had a fixed barrel DW .357 more than ten years ago and wish I still had it. I definitely want to own another someday -- likely a switch-barrel this time.......

Congratulations on your acquisition, and welcome to my world.
My D.W. model 15-2 has the exact same barrel set-up. Mine is my pride and joy.
I also have a 2 1/2 inch barrelled model 714-2. (Stainless Steel) The #714-2 was my first ever hand gun.

I owned one DW and it was a 8 inch 357 Maximum. Great revolver and I won several silhouette shoots with it. Wish I had kept it.
