We were discussing firearms the other day when I mentioned how much I was wanting a Ruger SR1911 but that some bills and other purchases precluded it for the time being. He casually replied back that he'd gotten one the other day. Today he brought it over for me to inspect and I have to say I liked it a lot. Specimens have been difficult here to obtain at times so he was grateful to have gotten his mitts on it. I have to say I was too, just a really well made pistol and it made me realize how much I missed having a 1911. After I put some other bills behind me and scrape up the cash I'd love to get one. It's been at the top of the want list since Ruger released 'em.![]()

There's an SR1911 for sale by a private party near me. Every day it dosen't sell, the price goes up $25. I'm seeing people ask $900 for them. I hope Ruger catches up with production so they can be purchased for what they're meant to sell for. I want one!

I've never owned a 1911 and I've been thinking about getting one myself. Prices on them have gone through
the roof, it is almost impossible to find one under $ 500.00. I did see some Rock Islands under that price.
I like the Springfield GI Model the best of all of them I've seen so far, it just has that classic look about
it. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a nice used one somewhere.
Taurus: Model 66 4"
Judge 6.5" 2.5 Cylinder
Model 617 2"
Raging Bull .44 Magnum 6.5"
Model 851 2"

I guess i'm lucky to have a few shops here in southwestern PA that go through guns like toilet paper. RIA's and ATI's usually run about $400 for the base G.I. models. $500+ for Tactical RIA's with double safeties, beavertail, commander hammer and skeleton triggers.

I have a deep appreciation of what this country is and what the American people are capable of. This is not a setback. This is a challenge and believe me, the American people are up to the challenge,...." -Glenn Beck
I picked up a RIA Tactical in 45 acp for 451 out the door as they say!
The GI model i think was like 19 bucks cheaper, you get a lot for 19 bucks if you ask me!
mostly dove tailed sights.
as for the SR1911 its a nice gun, shoots no better nor any worse than any quality 1911 but they are hard to find and people are crazy asking what they do for them, i mean they will be on the market at some point and really we aren't without a great selection of other 1911's out there now.
I could have picked a couple up several months ago when they were first released but would not pay the money they were asking for them.

It'll be nice when Ruger catches up with production of the SR1911 in oh,... prolly mid 2013 then I'll be able to buy one reasonably. If Ruger had them out about a year ago I'd of never gotten into Taurus though I don't think. Hard telling my first Taurus was a Tracker 44 magnum though.

Yea thers no denying that the SR1911 is a nice quality weapon and it has most of the features that "I" want on a 1911 and not many of the ones that i don't care for, very nicely finished weapon as is most any Ruger products, the combination of Black and stainless makes it quite attractive.
